Shelbypark, do write something on this. The archives of the Argus from 1923 (available at the NLA website) should provide you with enough references, though the correspondance is very back and forth. The Templestowe article should be completed sometime later this month, but there's only room for a paragraph on the proposal itself, and the broader plan to develop an outlying suburb, so it's not worth the effort on my part. :Approximately East North Easterly (I think that's the term). The photo was taken from the CBD, thereabouts. Shelbypark (talk) 16:01, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

:::Just an update: I should be able to photograph it sometime this week. There's a good panorama view of the building from central Balwyn. Ottre 02:37, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
::::That would be great! Another place I was thinking of getting a photo from is from the land around Royal Talbot - either from Royal Talbot itself or from the lookout above Yarra Boulevard. I also want to get a good close up photo - or at least closer than the ones I already have - of the chimney stack. I'm hoping the angle from RoyTal will be good for this too Shelbypark (talk) 05:59, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Planned Additions

I plan to add some of the following to this page, when I can-

 • Royal commission of 1886 into Kew Asylum aka Zox Royal Commission.
This is on hold at the moment until I get time to go in to the Victorian Mental Health Library to access a copy of the findings Zox handed down. Shelbypark (talk) 15:12, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a request, let me know by listing it here or on my talk page.

Planned lake development

Shelbypark, do write something on this. The archives of the Argus from 1923 (available at the NLA website) should provide you with enough references, though the correspondance is very back and forth. The Templestowe article should be completed sometime later this month, but there's only room for a paragraph on the proposal itself, and the broader plan to develop an outlying suburb, so it's not worth the effort on my part. Some comments

This is great stuff, well done to all those involved. I have some comments, hopefully useful.

 • "... to house the growing number of lunatics, inebriates and idiots in the Colony of Victoria", is this a quote from the period? If it is it should be in quotation marks and cited, if not I would probably use the modern terminology.
 • I have a copy of Haigh, Gideon (2004). "The Madness Of King Harry", Game For Anything: Writings On Cricket. which, in the context of Trott's internment discusses the asylum in some detail and in a general sense. let me know if you are interested and I can add some extracts on the talk page.
 • WP:MOSQUOTE suggests double quotes, the article has single-quotes throughout
 • Some work is needed with citations; there are entire paragraphs without them. While in most cases I am sure that the material is supported by a citation either above or below, don't assume that the readers (and reviewers) will see that. Use the same citation multiple times if necessary

Otherwise great work. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 22:38, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank heaps! I really appreciate your comments as this is my first Wikipedia article. I'll work on these over the next couple of days Shelbypark (talk) 15:14, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for these tips - especially the hospital info box. I've implemented them all, and will put the hospital info box on the other pages I've been editing Shelbypark (talk) 10:26, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

This review is transcluded from Talk:Kew Asylum/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

The article in my opinion generally satisfies GA criteria. There are only two problems:

1) The lead is too short. Please, expand it. The lead should be 3-4 paragraphs long according to WP:LEAD.
2) I added two cn tags. Please, replace them with citations.

I will put the article on hold. If in the next seven days the issues mentioned above are fixed, I will list the article. Ruslik (talk) 13:29, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 • Thank you. One of the cns has already been attended to. For the second, I can't find an actual reference other than the actual plate which is on the front of Willsmere. Unless some one can suggest a way to reference the plate (or another reference can be found), the sentence will have to be removed, I guess
 • I will work on the lead section over the next week. Many thanks for reviewing the article Shelbypark (talk) 09:54, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The plate is a reliable source, in my opinion. Ruslik (talk) 10:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • The lead section is now longer and more comprehensive. I've removed the fact from the second cn as I can't work out how to actually reference a picture on commons. I hope this is okay. Shelbypark (talk) 09:08, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am satisfied with how you addressed my concerns, so I will pass the article. Ruslik (talk) 09:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warning In The Opening Paragraph

While understandable, it's oddly formated and poorly placed. It doesn't fit the flow of the article or the design of Wikipedia and is a bit disruptive. Can someone with some editing skill touch it up a bit? If not, I personally think it would be best to either simply remove the warning or to make it plain text like the rest of the article. - 67.166.136.32 (talk) 21:45, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
