A new Manning Era is officially upon us ... Texas has just named Arch Manning -- the nephew of Peyton and Eli -- its starting quarterback.

The Longhorns announced the move on Thursday via X ... by posting a photo of Arch from when he entered the UTSA game last week following Heisman Trophy candidate Quinn Ewers' injury.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian said with Ewers' oblique still ailing ... Arch will get the QB1 nod for the first time in his UT career when the Longhorns take on ULM on Saturday in Austin.

Derek Carr's recent touchdown celebration was "Bad" in the eyes of the NFL -- 'cause the New Orleans Saints quarterback was just fined a solid chunk of change for channeling his inner Michael Jackson against the Dallas Cowboys.

Cleveland Browns rookie Michael Hall Jr. just entered a plea in court to close out his domestic violence case ... and now, his attorney says he's got his sights set on getting back on the field soon.

Hall Jr. -- who had been facing a first-degree domestic violence charge stemming from an alleged violent altercation with a woman on Aug. 12 in Avon, Ohio -- pled no contest to a reduced count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct on Thursday morning.

In court, Hall Jr. -- a second-round pick in this year's NFL draft -- told the judge he lamented "the whole situation and wish this never happened." The 21-year-old added he's been undergoing counseling "and trying to better myself" since the incident.

Video from ex-Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias' September 2023 domestic violence incident has been released ... showing the World Series champion running toward his wife and slamming her into a fence after a soccer game.

The footage backs what TMZ Sports reported just days after Urias' arrest ... when law enforcement sources told us he came up from behind his partner, put his arm around her, forcefully pushed her into the barrier and pulled her hair.

The clip also shows Urias swinging in the woman's direction while bystanders tried to intervene ... although it is unclear if he landed the punch.

With antisemitism on the rise, a Jewish organization at Harvard is making sure its members can defend themselves ... bringing one of the most dangerous people in the world to teach self-defense, UFC fighter Natan Levy.

32-year-old Levy, an 8-2 pro-MMA fighter, recently taught students at Harvard Chabad -- a Jewish student organization at the Ivy League School -- amid fears the Jewish students could be in physical danger.

Natan taught a wide range of techniques ... from strikes (jabs, crosses, kicks, etc.) to wrist grabs and more over the course of an hour-long class.

The man accused of firing a gun and killing two people at a Detroit Lions tailgate last Sunday will NOT be charged with a crime ... as officials say he was acting in self-defense.

The shooting took place in Eastern Market -- just blocks away from Ford Field -- as people were partying after the Lions had just lost a heartbreaker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cops said a preliminary investigation revealed that 25-year-old Jalen Welch had gotten into a dispute with a 40-year-old man at the venue ... when the man opened fire and killed him. A bystander, police added, was also struck by the gunfire ... and later died at a nearby hospital from his injuries.

Shaquille O'Neal still adamantly denies he's the big man in the photo burning up social media, using a Shaggy hit to get the word out ... this after the woman shared evidence she claims proves she was with the Big Fella!

52-year-old Shaq shared a video on Instagram ... where the Hall of Famer, sitting alongside Peter Gunz, lip-synced to Shaggy's 2000 hit, "It Wasn't Me".

Former NFL fullback Patrick Pass -- who spent seven seasons as Tom Brady's teammate in New England -- was arrested on Wednesday ... following allegations he shoved an elderly man during a gym dispute last month.

According to NBC 10 WJAR, police said the incident took place at a Planet Fitness in North Providence, R.I. back on Aug. 28.

Cops claim the former football player -- who's now 46 years old -- pushed an 82-year-old man to the ground during a spat over exercise equipment. Authorities allege the man sustained back injuries as a result of the altercation.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says the team did its due diligence prior to bringing back Kareem Hunt ... telling reporters everything K.C. officials learned about the running back made them comfortable with the signing.

Reid spoke about the new roster addition at Wednesday's press conference ... where he was immediately asked about re-signing the former Cleveland Brown in wake of starter Isiah Pacheco's injury.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will honor Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau this season in wake of their tragic deaths last month ... promising several tributes for the brothers in 2024 -- including jersey patches, helmet stickers and more.

The NHL team announced Wednesday the first salute will happen at CBJ's preseason opener against the Buffalo Sabres on Sept. 23, when players will sport blue and gray decals on their buckets. The stickers will have the "Gaudreau" name on it -- along with their jersey numbers and two doves.

Columbus also revealed there will be a moment of silence for the duo at the team's first home preseason game against the St. Louis Blues on September 25.
