Fans of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin can breathe a sigh of relief now that their representatives have confirmed that they’re relationship is still on hours after breakup rumors circulated on August 16.
“They are happily together,” the rep told People of Johnson, 34, and Martin, 47, who have been quietly dating for seven years.
This comes after the Daily Mail reported that the couple’s relationship had come to an end after a long road of rumors that plagued them over the last year.

An insider for the media outlet claimed that Martin has “now accepted the relationship is over – and it’s best to move on” while he’s in the middle of his Music of the Spheres world tour with Coldplay. Johnson was seen in Malibu walking her dog earlier this month, but she was not wearing her emerald engagement ring. “Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work,” the source added. “They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.”
However, it seems like Johnson may have just left the ring at home!
The source claimed that that “they’re both busy people” and their personal and professional lives “don’t naturally intertwine with each other.” However, now it appears the duo managed to come back from what several outlets claimed was a brief split earlier this year.

The private duo was “going strong” again by June. “They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on,” a source told People.
The first time Johnson was seen with her emerald ring was in December 2020, but her pals let everyone know that they “got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married.” The 47-year-old musician and the 34-year-old actress kept that status quo going until they reached a stalemate in their relationship. Martin was previously married to Gwyneth Paltrow until they “consciously uncoupled” in 2014. Johnson seemed to fit right into their blended family that also included Martin and Paltrow’s kids, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18.
“I think because I grew up in [having a blended family], it’s come more naturally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way really,” Johnson told Bustle in March. “I really wouldn’t. I love it. It feels very honest. It feels really authentic. No one’s hiding anything.”
