Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to build an advanced, diverse, and sustainable technological ecosystem, providing more resources and opportunities for innovation and technology enterprises in both regions to achieve better growth and development. Through this collaboration with the Hong Kong Alumni Association of Beijing Universities, outstanding innovation and technology enterprises will be recommended to settle in Cyberport, assisting them in utilising the resources of Cyberport to explore overseas markets. Additionally, policy consultation will be provided to Cyberport enterprises, aiding their development and expansion in Beijing, thereby promoting economic and trade cooperation as well as innovation and technology collaboration between Beijing and Hong Kong. The aim is to provide more resources and opportunities for innovation and technology enterprises in both regions, foster learning and exchange between enterprises and universities, accelerate enterprise development, and cultivate more young talents in innovation and technology. In addition, Elizabeth Lee, Chairman, Hong Kong Alumni Association of Beijing Universities (HKAABJU), led a group of about 30 leaders or executives from Beijing's science and technology start-ups to visit Cyberport today (April 15). They exchanged ideas on corporate needs and gained insights into the current situation at Cyberport. As the flagship digital technology hub and entrepreneurial nurturing base in Hong Kong, Cyberport looks forward to attracting more outstanding innovation and technology enterprises from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Time to move to Beijing as the new sci-tech hub of Asia? Beijing is welcoming foreign tech players to join major scientific research projects. Their goal: claiming the title of China’s first international science and technology innovation center. According to a recently passed regulation, Beijing Municipality plans to: 🔬 Support international tech organisations in establishing local research centers. 🚸 Create an attractive expat environment by building more international schools, hospitals and apartments for foreign talent. 🛳️ Stimulate foreign organisations and individuals in conducting international tech exchanges in China and building overseas research institutes. Side note: China is lacking far behind the US in housing international tech organisations, only hosting 10% of the total amount the US has. Time for a change? -- What's your take on the future of sci-tech in China? Will international players embrace Beijing's call, or will the new generation of sci-tech innovators emerge from someplace else? * 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘒𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 — 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙉𝙤𝙩? Hong Kong, often hailed as “𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆”, must now live up to that grand title. Our destiny lies in Hong Kong’s continued viability as a global financial centre. Let’s think globally and construct “bridges” that span continents. Hong Kong should become a place where cultures converge, #entrepreneurial spirit flourishes, and the heartbeat of the world pulses with energy —once again. 🌟𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲: 1. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻: “𝙈𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙯𝙤𝙣𝙚,” we often advise university students. Now, let’s heed our own advice. Hong Kong’s traditional sectors—banking, finance, and legal services — form a strong foundation. Now, let’s embrace entrepreneurship and take calculated risks. Seek resources and funding to turn workable ideas into viable businesses. 2. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹: Hong Kong boasts of top universities and research institutions. However, breakthroughs often remain confined within academic walls. True pioneers don’t merely theorise; they bring ideas to life. Translating theoretical breakthroughs into practical applications requires interdisciplinary collaboration, exploring commercialisation opportunities, and real-world implementation. 3. 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀: To diversify, Hong Kong needs to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of its clientele. Explore new ventures or markets. Learn to adapt by staying agile and responsive: - Expand product offerings. - Add new features. - Customise marketing messaging for Asia (ex-China). Attract the interest of businesses and #investors both regionally and globally. ➡️ In summary, promoting innovation, taking calculated risks, and collaboration are essential for Hong Kong’s success on the global stage. By encouraging creativity and #collaboration, Hong Kong can truly live up to its title as “𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆.”🌟 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘏𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘒𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 — because if we don’t, other cities will! Pleasure to exchange insights, perspectives and (physically i.e. literally) books with Professor Mark Greeven at IMD Shenzhen office. When we were planning for “Seeing the unseen: behind Chinese tech giant’s global venturing”, Prof Greeven kindly shared guidance on publishing (he already had a few books out), perspectives on Chinese tech companies from an European viewpoint, and encouragement that the book project would not be as difficult as it seeemed. Look forward to more exchanges and collaborations in China, now both IMD and Momentum Works have offices in Shenzhen. 🌏 *Pioneers, Hidden Champions, Changemakers and Underdogs: Lessons from China's innovators*: https://lnkd.in/gijAM_qr 🌏*Seeing the unseen: Behind Chinese tech giants' global venturing*: https://lnkd.in/gtNEywYi #innovation #organizationalculture #techcompanies #chuhai
