According to recent U.S. Labor Department statistics, there were around 8.1 million vacant jobs across the country in May this year. But a number of these could be entirely fake—although this is difficult to measure with any certainty—as companies admit to posting fake job listings in an effort to bolster the firm's reputation, keep current employees in line, and preemptively gather information about applicants for real jobs that may be available in the future. According to ZipRecruiter’s new Q1 2024 Survey of New Hires, “Workers Take Longer To Find Jobs Though Counteroffers Rise.” Staffing Industry Analysts provides a top level summary of the survey’s findings which include findings such as data points on the length of time to find a job, counteroffers, application response time and use of AI in the job search process. Is the economy on the turn... the job market is often a good indication of where things are heading. Looking at the data we track each month (which combines adverts in the region from several well-known platforms e.g. LI, total jobs, Indeed etc), we can see: 🔔 5% increase in vacancies in May (vs. April) 💡 17% increase in May vs the prior 3 months 🔎 Average application to advert of 21 candidates All of the commentary from industry experts is that the economy is on the bounce, lets hope the general election doesn't cause too many companies to pause their growth plans. https://lnkd.in/dj_RRAE2

Over the last few years job seekers have gained and lost the upper hand when it comes to the world of work. With the shift of the job market, candidates searching for jobs over the last five years have experienced several changes when it comes to work, salaries, benefits, and more. Each year, Nexxt conducts a survey of job seekers to understand how job seekers searched for jobs the previous year and how job seekers plan to search in the coming year. This year’s survey results predict that with so many external shifts that job seekers cannot control—job seekers are shifting their energy to what they can control. 2024 is shaping up as the year of securing a job—even if it is part time—and focusing on having more flexibility—a top priority for job seekers surveyed.
