Ayala High, a collective $20,000 at their Fall Fashion Bash on Saturday, September 28. The cash awards were part of the Shoppes’ signature “Shop 4 Your High School” program.

Shoppers who participated in “Shop 4 Your High School” were able to designate their favorite participating high school as the recipient of a “point” for each dollar spent from August 16 through September 27. Almost 198,000 points (meaning dollars spent) were tracked during the program period, with cash prizes awarded as follows: $10,000 to Reuben S. Ayala High, $5,000 to Don Lugo High, and $2,500 to both Chino Hills High and Chino High.

The Fall Fashion Bash portion of the evening included a trend review highlighting hot fall styles modeled by members of the Shoppes’ 2013 Teen Fashion Council, along with local high school representatives. Choreographed by The Art Institute of California – Inland Empire, models were spotlighted on pedestals on the Promenade of the shopping center, all within a fashion forward, cutting edge setting.

CHINO HILLS—The Shoppes at Chino Hills received the Collaboration Award from the California Division of the American Cancer Society at a ceremony on September 28 in Orange County.

“The Shoppes at Chino Hills is truly honored by this award,” said Sarah Corrigan, Director of Marketing for the upscale shopping center. “We value our ongoing partnership with the American Cancer Society, and the opportunity it provides to join with our communities in the mutual effort to find a cure.”

The American Cancer Society honored The Shoppes because of their partnership with the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” event held at the venue for three years. The Inland Empire event nearly doubled in number of participants walking, and that amount of dollars raised to fight breast cancer, thanks to an incredible combination of dedication, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
Sarah Corrigan worked with the Society’s volunteer event committee leadership and staff as well as numerous merchants in The Shoppes to increase support and promotion of the Making Strides event, which was held in April 2012. A major highlight of the partnership was The Shoppes' production of the "IN THE PINK” Fashion Show honoring Breast Cancer Survivors in our community. Over 500 people attended the April 14 event, which featured breast cancer survivors – recruited by American Cancer Society volunteers and staff – as fashion models in a top-notch, professionally-produced runway show.

“The American Cancer Society is so grateful to Sarah Corrigan and her leadership at The Shoppes at Chino Hills,” said Shannon Fowler, staff partner for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in the Inland Empire in 2012.
