AI is transforming the digital landscape in many ways, and for creators, it’s a double-edged sword. In Newsweek, our Chief Innovation Officer Marc McCollum breaks down the ways AI-driven tools like Google’s AI Overviews threaten the livelihoods of independent creators and publishers by using their content without consent or compensation. This shift raises serious concerns about the future of a diverse and open internet. At Raptive, we stand with the call from our elected officials for investigations into these practices, advocating for a fair internet where creators are valued and compensated. At Raptive, we strongly support the recent call from senators for greater oversight of big tech's use of AI in search products. Content creators deserve to have their rights protected, and we’re proud to stand with those advocating for fairness in the digital landscape. Read more from our Chief Innovation Officer Marc McCollum here.
Media Executive | Raptive Chief Innovation Officer | Former Red Ventures President, Accenture Partner
Yesterday, a large group of senators led by Amy Klobuchar sent a letter to the DOJ and FTC urging them to investigate large tech companies for their noncompetitive actions introducing AI search products that steal content creator's copyright protected content and use it for their own commercial interests. Here at Raptive, we strongly support the Senators' call for increased oversight of AI-driven search results and summaries. As an organization deeply committed to protecting the interests of content creators, Raptive has been vocal about the significant challenges posed by AI-generated content, particularly in how it affects the visibility and revenue streams of those who rely on the open web. This letter from our elected officials marks a critical step forward in ensuring that the voices of content creators are heard and protected in an increasingly automated digital landscape.
