Why do you think Irving changed his attitude with Harry? Will it be permanent?

Irving seems to helping Harry with this case but I doubt it will be permanent.

Irving changes attitude whenever it pleases him which can become tiresome. A leader needs to be consistent. Even though he and Harry have had their differences and will undoubtedly have more in the future...Irving knows that Harry was right and acted accordingly.

I think Irving is trying to be objective if not exactly showing a change of heart. He was responsible for the investigation into Harry after the shooting and then tried to find evidence that he was dirty by assigning Lewis and Clarke to him - each time Harry was cleared. Irving needs to accept that and move on and I think that’s what he’s finally prepared to do

I imagine that Irving doesn't want any cop to go down for a good shooting. I feel this is why he is acting the way he is towards Harry. I also think that going forward there will be times when he backs Harry up and times where he doesn't. He is in charge of police so he needs to follow the rules that govern his job.

The change seemed to be linked to Irving discovering who Bosch's mother was, at least that's how I see it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Irving had known, and perhaps liked, Bosch's mother when she worked his beat. I think there might be more Irving can tell Bosch about her.

I think Irving is 100% behind him because he made the right choice in shooting Church, whether he was the Dollmaker or not. He also felt sympathy for a little boy whose mother made her living as a prostitute and was brutally murdered.
