I was perplexed at first when I read the title. What the heck is Sunnyside? Well, it's a great journey through a fun part of Toronto history and of course, I've fallen in love with Mike Filey's writing style. Anything that makes me forget that I'm reading nonfiction is awesome in my books. I have a full review here: http://www.examiner.com/publishing-in-toronto/toronto-book-review-i-remember-sun.... But if you're not up to reading a few more words, let me say this is an excellent history of Toronto that is well written and the pictures, again, I'll say are amazing.… (more)

For some reason, Goodreads has decided I can't leave a rating. **sigh** 5 Stars. Okay? Good. Loved this book and I'm now a bit of a history buff. I didn't know history was actually...interesting. Imagine that.

I enjoyed all of his books very much.… (more)

Mike Filey's writing is comfortable and easy and Toronto Sketches 9 is a very interesting read. It's actually my favorite of his books so far, although the newest book [bc:Toronto Sketches 10: "The Way We Were"|8572716|Toronto Sketches 10 "The Way We Were"|Mike Filey|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51xGr6sFqfL._SL75_.jpg|13441506] is a close second. In my full review here: rel="nofollow" target="_top">http://www.examiner.com/publishing-in-toronto/toronto-book-review-toronto-sketch... I mention that this isn't history we get in school, but it's one we should know.… (more)
