Stellar Year 2148, Major Vladilena is forced to take the lead of District 86. Rumors say that whoever was it's Head, they ended up resigning or committing suicide. Vladilena does not believe it and wants to investigate.
Spearhead is given orders to undertake a pointless march into enemy territory, and not to stop until they are dead. Lena tries her best to stop this suicide mission from happening.
With pride in themselves and a vow to their fallen comrades, they will not stop until the end. And so, they reach their final resting place. Meanwhile, Lena, who was left behind in the Republic, finally landed on their land.
After being demoted, Lena is now the handler of a different squadron of Eighty-Six, and with the words left behind by Shin, she prepares for the large scale offensive of the Legion that she believes will come.
After the Nordlicht squadron was split up to help the various mechanized infantry divisions, they are finally reunited to prepare for another large looming threat.
Lena takes command of the 86 as the fighting gets closer to the capital. The Federacy of Giad deals with the aftermath from the attacks from the Railgun Legion, now dubbed "The Morpho"
To assist in reaching their objective, the Nordlicht squadron sets out in a forgotten prototype, as the the Federacy, the Kingdom of Roa Gracia, and the Alliance of Wald simultaneously begin their massive assault against the Legion forces.
The Nachzehrer finds its flight path blocked by a massive swam of Legion before they could reach their landing point and the bulk of Nordlicht are ejected from the plane. Grethe baits the Legion away as the rest push on towards the Morpho.
As they continue to go deeper into Legion territory in pursuit of the Morpho, Shin is confronted by Raiden about his actions during the previous skirmish. The rest of the Federacy's forces follow close behind.
As the Eighty-Six approaches the Morpho, the path is repeatedly blocked by attacks from the Legion. In order to advance, they each take on the role of decoys, and their numbers are dwindling one by one.
After the war, Shin confronts himself as the only one left behind on the battlefield. Just before giving up, he is approached by a figure from his past.
