Even if you’re not a Halloween person, October means spooky season. It feels like every brand, store, — and yes, every streamer, finds ways to incorporate themes of haunting and horror. Disney+ started early, with the September premiere of “Agatha All Along,” which will air new episodes for the next several weeks. In October, the streamer will debut “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” an expansion of the popular Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” which aired from 2007 to 2012.
And of course Hulu has “Huluween,” a celebration of the scariest titles either premiering on the streamer for the first time or simply highlighted from its existing library. That includes films like “Late Night with the Devil,” the series “Reginald the Vampire,” FX’s “American Horror Stories”, a Halloween specials from “Family Guy” and “Solar Opposites,” a docuseries on witch hunting, and much more.

Not to sound like a stereotype, but I don't particularly get along with my mother-in-law. But the situation in the latest Netflix thriller, "Locked Up," is a great reminder that things could always be much, much worse. Despite little fanfare upon release and next to no promotion tied to it, "Locked In" has been consistently holding it down on the streamer's Top 10 list since it arrived on November 1. If you've not heard of the film, here's the official synopsis:
Katherine, a former Hollywood actor, wakes up in the hospital unable to move. She's been hit by a car and suffers from locked-in syndrome — her eyes are the only thing she's able to move. Through her nurse, Nicky, we find out what's led to Katherine's hospitalization. Katherine, communicating with her via letter board, blinks when Nicky reads the correct letter: She claims there's been a murder. Through flashbacks, we see snapshots...

Blue Bloods alum Jennifer Esposito has signed with WME.
The veteran Hollywood actor made her writing and directing debut this year with her 1980s-set mafia drama Fresh Kills, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Esposito wrote, produced and stars in the film, which features Annabella Sciorra and Domenick Lombardozzi.
Esposito, who played detective Jackie Curatola and Donnie Wahlberg’s partner for three seasons of CBS’ cop drama Blue Bloods, arrives at WME as she focused more on the writing and directing space by developing a slate of film and TV projects.
On NCIS, she played NCIS special agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn, an experienced agent who left field work and became an instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center before being lured back into the field as a federal agent.

Truly shocking news today, as it’s being reported that actor Lance Reddick, a staple of the John Wick franchise from the beginning, has passed away at just 60 years old.
TMZ reports, “Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Lance’s body was discovered at his Studio City home Friday morning around 9:30 Am. His cause of death is currently unclear, but our law enforcement sources say it appears to be natural.”
In addition to the John Wick movies, which saw him play the role of Charon – the fourth film will be released this year – Lance Reddick also recently appeared in Netflix’s short-lived “Resident Evil” television series, stealing the entire show as iconic character Albert Wesker. Reddick humorously ended up playing four different versions of the character in the series.

Lil Baby is a reliably astute emcee — nimble at rapping and structurally fluid, but carrying enough bark to devour listeners with tales of fast cars, childhood mischief, and rebellious upward mobility. On 2020’s My Turn, the Atlanta rapper was able to go from Young Thug reinterpreter to independent artist in his own right. Songs like “We Paid” and “Emotionally Scarred” showed off a dexterity, pristine songwriting, and an attitude fit for a monarch who’d just thrown a successful violent coup. On It’s Only Me, his 10th release since...

Una Stubbs, the British actress who died in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Thursday at age 84, may be best known to modern audiences for her role as Sherlock Holmes’ landlady, Mrs. Hudson, on the Benedict Cumberbatch-led series “Sherlock.”
But she had her breakout role in the long-running BBC sitcom “Till Death Do Us Part,” which ran for seven seasons between 1965-75 and inspired Norman Lear’s classic American hit “All in the Family.”
In “Till Death Do Us Part,” Stubbs played the Sally Struthers role — the left-leaning daughter of a reactionary white working-class father (played by Warren Mitchell) who regularly clashes with the Liverpool socialist husband of Stubbs’ character (played by Anthony Booth).
In a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lear recalled how his partner, Bud Yorkin, tipped him off about “Till Death Do Us Part” while shooting a film in London in the late 1960s. “’Holy s—, I’ve lived through that,...

Spain’s San Sebastian Festival, the highest-profile movie event in the Spanish-speaking world, has delivered on director José Luis Rebordinos’ promise of considering Cannes Official Selection titles for selection, slating five Cannes label titles in its own main competition, the Festival announced Friday.
These include two of the biggest sales attractions at last week’s Cannes Marché du Film Online: François Ozon’s “Summer of 85” and Thomas Vinterberg’s “Another Round.” They also take in two other titles included in what Cannes head Thierry Fremaux called The Faithful in his lineup of film which would have screwed at Cannes, had the festival taken place: Naomi Kawase’s “True Mothers” and Sharunas Bartas “In the Dusk.”
Also making San Sebastian’s competition cut are “Beginning,” a Cannes Official Selection first feature from Georgia’s Dea Kulumbegashvili, plus “Any Cry Babies Around?” from Japan’s Takuma Sato.

If there was a lesson in Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 14, it was how well do you know the people you're closest to? "Seven Indictments" really wanted us to think that Kenny Rixton was a dirty cop, while the case of the week revealed a con artist who was pretending to live a double life.
Chicago Fire found two victims at the site of an intentionally set house explosion. One was already dead, presumed to be the house's lone tenant, while the other died on his way to Chicago Med.
The only good thing to come out of this was that it gave us an all too brief Colin Donnell cameo. Any time Colin Donnell turns up anywhere it's a good thing, even if he's only there for about thirty seconds. The Med team is getting short shrift on crossovers this week, between this and Marlyne Barrett's one line in Tuesday's Chicago Fire.

Crazy to think that Brittany Murphy's gone at all, let alone that it's been six years since she tragically passed away when she was only 32. We've been thinking about her a lot this year, what with Clueless having marked its 20th anniversary and it being one of the greatest movies ever and all. And we realized that, while there's no shame in Tai being the crowning jewel of her career, Murphy was someone to watch all the time, whether she was keeping a secret in Don't Say a Word, making us cry in Girl, Interrupted, annoying us in Eight Mile or just being adorable again in Uptown Girls. Today would have been her 38th birthday and, while this could easily be an all-Clueless list, here's a look...

Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and, erm, Kangaroo Jack: they all nabbed the box office top spot last decade...
By the end of the 2000s, getting number one at the American box office was a valuable marketing commodity. As such, studios pumped more and more money into making sure they at least had a great opening weekend for their product.
The consequence of this was that it was harder and harder for smaller and quirkier films to take a brief spot in the sun. Certainly towards the second half of the decade, it seems that the number one movie each week was pre-ordinained in a marketing meeting somewhere.
Still, there were some films that have since fallen out of public view that clawed their way to number one. How many of these do you remember?

Walking spoiler Sean Bean has bitten the dust in film and television more than any other actor. But how well do you know his big-screen demises?
With Bean starring in this week's Jupiter Ascending, the film is naturally going to be loaded with tension over whether he makes it to the end credits in one piece. With that in mind, we've assembled a Sean Bean Death Quiz to test your knowledge on the many downfalls of Sheffield's favourite son.
1. Which on-screen death has Sean previously claimed is his favourite?
A) Boromir in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

B) Ned Stark in Game of Thrones
Wrong!
C) Danny Bryant in Outlaw

Even though police couldn't find any evidence of murder, Murphy's father claims that the couple has been poisoned. It's not clear how much of Murphy's life will be covered and how much of the conspiracy theories will be brought up. We'll see ourselves when the film airs on September 6th. Amanda Fuller (Last Man Standing) will play Murphy and Sherilyn Fenn ("Twin Peaks") will play Murphy's mom Sharon.

The young actress was found in her home in Texas. No cause of death has been determined.
Actress Skye McCole Bartusiak, best known for one of her earliest roles as Mel Gibson's youngest daughter in the revolutionary war film The Patriot, died at the age of 21 in her home in Texas.
According to Variety, no cause of death has been determined, but the actress did pass away in her sleep.
CNN reports that Skye's mother revealed that she had been suffering from epileptic seizures since she was a baby -- though they disappeared for a few years until returning last week --and that her body was discovered by her boyfriend.
"We think she had a seizure and choked and nobody was there," she said. "[The paramedics] were working on her for 45 minutes and could not get a heartbeat. I've done CPR on that kid more than one time...

Jason Statham and James Franco face off in this red-band trailer for the Sylvester Stallone scripted action thriller Homefront. The trailer features a lot of new footage from the film including Statham kicking some major ass and a lot of people getting shot to hell. All in all, it looks like it's going to be a pretty awesome flick.
The movie was directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don't Say A Word) and is based on the book by Chuck Logan. It also stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, and Frank Grillo.

In the movie, Statham plays a former DEA agent Phil Broker who is trying to leave his violent life behind him. He moves with his daughter to small-town Louisiana, where he butts heads with a crime faction including a former biker (Ryder) and the local crime leader, Gator (Franco). Though it doesn't really seem like James Franco would be much of an adversary for Jason Statham, the thriller Homefront has pitted them against each other. Franco is a southern drug dealer who doesn't like an undercover cop trying to start a new life on his turf, and in this new red band trailer, he shows that he means business by busting the knee caps of some new meth dealers who are invading his territory. Then we get into normal trailer territory with some kick-ass action and some profanity thrown around for good measure. We're still not sure if this will be good, but maybe Franco and Statham will make it fun. Watch! Here's the new red band trailer for Gary Fleder's Homefront from IGN: Homefront is directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Don't Say a Word) and written by veteran action star, director and producer Sylvester Stallone. Millenium films has released the first trailer for the Sylvester Stallone-scripted Homefront, which will feature Jason Statham and James Franco trying to take each other down. I personally think Statham has the upper hand, but it looks like Franco will give him a run for his money.

Just a couple days ago, the first look photos from director Gary Fleder's new crime thriller Homefront arrived, and now the first trailer is here, pitting Jason Statham against James Franco. Yet again, Statham finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. As a DEA agent just trying to enjoy retired life, Statham finds himself confronting a crime ring led by Franco when their children get into a schoolyard confrontation. When Franco aims to gets some dirt on the new small town resident, he learns he's an undercover cop and assumes he's there to bust him. The trailer looks generic and gives a little too much away, but this battle between Franco and Statham seems fun. Oh, and look at white trash Kate Bosworth! Trailer for Homefront. Written by Sylvester Stallone. It's not often you get to see such a happy James Franco as the villain, but here we go. The new trailer for Homefront is much better than I expected it to be, and the film directed by Gary Fleder, looks to deliver action, and thrills galore, mixed in with some pretty solid acting. Fleder's got quite a credit list on him, in both film and television, although mostly TV. Those include Imposter, Don't Say a Word, Kiss the Girls, the awesome Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead, The Express and very effective Runaway Jury, among others. Homefront is an action movie about a widowed ex-dea agent (Jason Statham) who retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. The only problem is he picked the wrong town.

While Revenge fans are preparing for the last stretch of season two episodes, in Mike Kelley's mind, his creation is about to wrap up season four. That's because Mike mentally splits his 22-episode seasons in half, meaning fans are gifted with season finale cliffhangers (Victoria whispering "Don't say a word" in Daniel's ear on the beach, Amanda's death/sinking) twice as often.
Now, with only 5 episodes left in whatever season you want to call it, I rang up the ultimate Revenge-r to talk about Emily's renewed thirst for revenge, Victoria's secret son, Jack's descent into darkness, Nolan's big mistake, the end of The Initiative and what you can expect from season three (or, as Mike might call it, season five)!
ETonline: Emily's quest for revenge was clearly reinvigorated by Amanda's death. The character said she got side-tracked during the first half of the season, did you feel that way too?
Mike Kelley: Yeah. You...

Fox 2000 and Chernin Entertainment have optioned John Rocco‘s illustrated book "Blackout" to turn into a live action feature.

Categorize this news in "dream casting we didn't know we wanted until now": James Franco will be starring opposite Jason Statham in the upcoming Sylvester Stallone-penned action-thriller "Homefront."
Variety broke the news, adding that "Don't Say A Word" and "Kiss the Girls" director Gary Fleder will helm the project. While "Homefront" is a movie that totally makes sense for Stallone and Statham, it's Franco's inclusion that has us really intrigued.
The script follows an ex-dea agent, played by Statham, who moves his family to a new town "hoping to escape his past." But the supposedly quiet town they move to is actually overrun with violence and drugs, headed off by an "evil meth magnate" who will be played by Franco. Expect explosions and epic fight scenes to ensue after that.

After working together on the last two Expendables films, it looks like Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone will be continuing their partnership with another upcoming action flick. This time around Stallone's role will be a little bit different, however. He will not be starring alongside Statham, nor will he be directing. In this case, he wrote the script for a movie called Homefront, which he will produce for Millennium Films. Statham has signed on to star along with James Franco of all people. The plot synopsis is as follows: "Story follows Phil Broker (Statham), an ex-dea agent who moves his family to a quiet town hoping to escape his past. However, he finds the town to be overrun with violence, drug traffickers and an evil meth magnate named Gator (Franco). To save his endangered family, retribution is now the only thing Broker seeks." Franco's character is named Gator?! I'm definitely in.

If you would have asked me ten minutes ago if I ever thought I'd see James Franco starring along side Jason Statham in a Sylvester Stallone scripted movie, I would have thought you were nuts. Yet here I am reporting that it's happening. I'm starting to learn nothing is impossible.

However, he finds the town to be overrun with violence, drug traffickers and an evil meth magnate named Gator (Franco). To save his endangered family, retribution is now the only thing Broker seeks."
So it looks like Franco is going to get his ass kicked by Statham in the film which should be fun to watch. The movie is being directed by Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury, Kiss the Girls, Don't Say a Word...
