Marvel Studios stopped short of revealing The Sentry in yesterday's Thunderbolts* trailer but we did get to meet Lewis Pullman's "Bob." While the sneak peek failed to shed much light on his role in the movie, we've just unearthed a couple of very intriguing clues.
When Yelena Belova enters the facility where she meets the other Thunderbolts and Bob, blueprints can be seen showing several different variations of The Sentry's logo and hairstyle.
These pieces of paper seemingly have the Oxe logo at the top of them, an organisation we first heard would be featured in this movie earlier this year. In the Ultimate comics, Valentina Allegra de Fountaine was the group's Chairman and, while little is revealed about Oxe, they're described as the "largest holding company in the world."
Not only does this suggest she's working independently of the CIA, but it looks like Val set out to...

Beanie Feldstein has already appeared in film, on TV, and on Broadway, but now the multi-hyphenate star is looking to get behind the camera in one way or another.
The actress/executive producer told IndieWire while at the “Through Her Lens” cocktail reception, hosted by Tribeca and Chanel, that working with filmmakers such as Greta Gerwig and Olivia Wilde has inspired her to turn to screenwriting…and eventually, directing. Feldstein starred in Gerwig’s semi-autobiographical “Ladybird,” and led Wilde’s directorial debut “Booksmart.”
“I’m inspired to write a script. I don’t think you can work with Greta Gerwig and Olivia Wilde and walk away from that experience and not want to write and direct,” Feldstein said of her upcoming projects. “I’m not in a rush. I’ve got time.”

Exciting news for Marvel fans Thunderbolts has dropped its first teaser trailer, offering a glimpse of the misfit team of anti-heroes set to shake up the MCU. The film, directed by Jake Schreier, is slated for release on May 2, 2025. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, we learned that Tony Stark had decided to sell Avengers Tower. For years, speculation has run rampant about who purchased the landmark, with everyone from The Kingpin to a Kang the Conquerer Variant and even the Fantastic Four among the many rumoured possibilities.
None of those panned out and Marvel Studios has avoided giving us any answers. Oddly, the building hasn't even been shown in shots of the Big Apple, likely to avoid giving anything away.
Kevin Feige confirmed that answers are coming while promoting Deadpool & Wolverine and today's Thunderbolts* trailer may have solved this yearslong mystery once and for all.
As you can see below, when the team arrives to confront Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, it looks like the scene is playing out in what used to be Avengers Tower. Val is standing by a bar that's almost certainly the same one we saw Tony...

New Thunderbolts* Stills Released As Scarlett Johansson's Unexpected Connection To Movie Is Revealed
Shortly after Scarlett Johansson patched things up with Disney - now-former CEO Bob Chapek attempted to renege on her deal to earn a cut of Black Widow's profits by releasing the movie on Disney+ - there was talk of the actor producing a future MCU project.
Her time as Natasha Romanoff came to a definitive end in Avengers: Endgame and, after returning for that solo movie set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, that really did appear to be it for Johansson.
There's been some online chatter about the MCU veteran possibly being involved with a Blonde Phantom series on Disney+ but a press release sent out by Disney confirms Johansson is executive producing Thunderbolts*.
She'll do so alongside Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, and Jason Tamez. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing.

Not quite the Avengers, assemble! Marvel’s latest superhero team brings togethers the bad (ish) guys from across the MCU in the first trailer for Thunderbolts*. Watch it below.
Soundtracked by a modern “slowed-down-dramatic-remix-accented-by-action-beats” version of Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind,” the Thunderbolts* teaser trailer finds Yelena Belova aka Black Widow (Florence Pugh) adrift in a world of espionage. She seeks guidance from her super-soldier father, Alexei “Red Guardian” Shostakov (David Harbour), but he seems as lost as she is — albeit far more at peace about it. But Belova doesn’t have time to do much soul-searching, as her next mission puts her in the same room with a number of Marvel villains: U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, and Ghost.
In fact, they’re all trapped in that room, along with a mysterious new character named… Bob Marvel Comics fans will recognize Bob as Sentry, one of the universe’s most over-powered characters.

Marvel has released the first trailer for its upcoming team-up film, Thunderbolts*, starring Florence Pugh and others. Take a look below.
We’ve barely recovered from the cinematic whiplash of Deadpool & Wolverine, but there’s no rest for the wicked. Or Marvel, at least.
Thunderbolts*, Marvel’s latest team-up movie with an admittedly impressive cast, has been in the making for what seems like forever, but there’s finally proof that the film exists and is hitting cinemas next year.
Take a look at the first Thunderbolts* trailer below.
The trailer doesn’t come up with a lengthy synopsis, just a warning: “Careful who you assemble.” Noted.
The trailer finds Florence Pugh’s Yelena first visit her father Alexei and recruit him for a new team. Later on, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, Olga Kurylenko’s Taskmaster and Wyatt Russell’s John Walker join Yelena and Alexei...

They’re assembling another team.
On Monday, Marvel finally released the first trailer for “Thunderbolts*,” the studio’s forthcoming adventure about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s rogues’ gallery. (Marvel has been teasing the project since San Diego Comic-Con in July.)
Directed by Emmy Award winner Jake Schreier (“Beef”) with a script previously attributed to Eric Pearson, Joanna Calo (“The Bear”), and Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”) – although how the final credits will shake out is unclear – “Thunderbolts*” brings together several Marvel antagonists, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). The trailer, using The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind” and with vibes ripped out of “The Suicide Squad,” teases some nefarious conspiracy and many baddie-on-baddie fight scenes. Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” hasn’t exactly had the easiest transition from comic book to screen.
The film has been teased since 2021 with the release of “Black Widow” and introduction of characters Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), all of whom are featured in various iterations of the “Thunderbolts” comics. Further hints were made in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” However, with Marvel fare like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “The Marvels” underperforming at the box office and last year’s strike delaying production on both “Thunderbolts” and “Captain America: Brave New World,” there have been a few hiccups.
Now, a first look teaser at the star-studded film is finally revealed.
“Thunderbolts” was initially slated to release around this time in 2023 when Phase 5 of the MCU was announced at Comic-Con in 2022. It was also supposed to conclude this phase of the MCU,...

Lucy Liu, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Olivia Wilde, Beanie Feldstein and Joanna Calo gathered together at a cocktail party Thursday evening in New York City to name the grant recipient of the 2024 Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program.
The five women served as this year’s jury for the annual program, which provides industry support and artistic development to self-identifying women and non-binary filmmakers. After an intensive, three-day workshop, Liu, Randolph, Wilde, Feldstein and Calo awarded writer-director Sophia Youssef and producer Céline Bava-Helms the grand prize for their short film, “Black Shore.”
“We thought that ‘Black Shore’ was very ambitious and world-building,” Liu told Variety at the cocktail event on the upper terrace of the Greenwich Hotel’s Tribeca penthouse. “And it was different from the other projects because it was so expansive.”
Liu recalled the jury’s deliberation process after hearing pitches from the emerging filmmakers.

The annual Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program has officially announced its 2024 grant recipients. The star-studded three-day workshop is a coveted experience for selected female filmmakers, and has served as a launchpad for filmmakers such as Nikyatu Jusu (“Nanny”), Kat Coiro (“She-Hulk”), and A.V. Cast and executive producers of ‘Shogun’ on stage at the 2024 Emmys (Disney/Frank Micelotta)
Father and son Eugene and Dan Levy did a respectable job of hosting the 2024 Primetime Emmys, popping in just enough throughout the two-hour running time to guide the show without overstaying their welcome. Their opening bit avoided any controversial topics, and Dan Levy got a big laugh when he described the Emmys as broadcast TV’s biggest night for honoring movie stars on streaming services. Eugene also earned solid applause when he joked, “In the true spirit of The Bear, we will not be making any jokes,” while addressing the show’s controversial classification as a comedy.
Speaking of The Bear, the series was awarded four Emmys during the broadcast in the Actor (Jeremy Allen White), Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Supporting Actress (Liza Colón-Zayas), and Outstanding Directing categories. But Hacks pulled off a surprise win, snagging the Comedy Series Emmy.

If you’re watching the 76th Emmy Awards, you’re probably thinking that Jeremy Allen White must have quite the potty mouth. On just the third category of Sunday night, we got our first acceptance-speech audio dump.
For the second year in a row, White won Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role of Carmine Berzatto on “The Bear.” None of us were surprised by the win — it was both expected and well-deserved — but in expressing his gratitude, White let fly a set of words that ABC simply could not allow to air.
Carmy! What the fuck! Whatever it was White said, it must have been bad. Right?
Not really. IndieWire was in the Peacock Theater (ouch re: those naming rights when the Emmys re-air Monday on Hulu) and our virgin ears are doing just fine, thank you very much. What you didn’t hear on the TV telecast,...

This year, for the first time since 1982, the last three consecutive Best Comedy Writing Emmy winners are nominated in the category simultaneously. Looking to emulate “Taxi’s” defeat of “M*A*S*H” and “Barney Miller” is reigning victor “The Bear,” which faces its most serious challenges from “Hacks” and “Abbott Elementary.”

After making a bold claim about Thunderbolts* at the Sdcc, David Harbour further ups the hype for the film with another update. Harbour has shared that none of the anti-heroes of the film are in a good place at the start of the film. From Harbour and the rest of the cast’s comments, it appears that the film will avoid one major mistake committed by DC’s Suicide Squad.

Someone out there has a recording of the Thunderbolts* trailer shown at last month's San Diego Comic-Con and, right now, it appears the idea is to release it frame-by-frame.
The next round of screengrabs has hit social media this morning, anyway, starting with a new look at Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost. Now decked out in a black costume with a white mask, this is a drastic overhaul when compared to her appearance in both Ant-Man and The Wasp and the comics (where she is a he).
On the plus side, the lights on each side of the helmet do pay homage to the source material.
We never got to learn what became of Ava after Scott Lang travelled into the Quantum Realm to find her life-saving quantum energy, so assuming she wasn't among those Blipped, the villain may have continued down the dark path she was already on...

Update: While this Thunderbolts* footage has yet to leak online, we do now have the full audio. As you might expect, it's hard to figure out much of what's going on, though we hear the team meet for the first time, Lewis Pullman's "Bob," and a fun exchange with Red Guardian.

For whatever reason, Marvel Studios didn't bring Thunderbolts* to D23 this past weekend. However, we're sure you'll recall that a new trailer was shown at last month's San Diego Comic-Con, and a Hall H leak has just hit social media.
While the footage itself has yet to surface, several screenshots from the sneak peek are doing the rounds on X. Those show Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova doing battle with John Walker, a.k.a. U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell).

After being described as Thunderbolts*'s standout by co-star Sebastian Stan, Pugh recently said, "I was very, very chuffed that he said that about me.

To date, only three programs throughout TV history have swept the top seven Primetime Emmys categories for series, lead actor, lead actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, writing and directing. Miniseries “Angels in America” was the first to do so in 2004, followed by comedy “Schitt’s Creek” in 2020, and then drama “The Crown” in 2021. At the upcoming 2024 Emmys, “The Bear” is hoping to join this esteemed list — and it’s all thanks to a savvy category switcheroo.
Last year, the FX dramedy about a Chicago beef restaurant claimed six of the top seven prizes for its first season: comedy series, lead actor Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, supporting actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, supporting actress Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu, and both writing and directing for Christopher Storer. “The Bear” was not eligible in the lead actress category, so it couldn’t win there and complete the sweep.

Marvel Studios hyped up Thunderbolts* at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, but the decision not to release the trailer online has seen the movie largely overshadowed by the other upcoming MCU releases showcased in Hall H.
The cast came out on stage alongside David Harbour suited up as Red Guardian, though the name of Geraldine Viswanathan's mysterious character was never revealed. However, thanks to an official video shared by Marvel Studios, we now know she's called "Mel."
It should go without saying that, after putting the pieces together, the only logical explanation is that the actress is playing Melissa Gold, a.k.a. Songbird.
Whether she'll have the same supersonic sound abilities as her comic book counterpart remains to be seen.
Songbird, originally known as Screaming Mimi, debuted in the pages of Marvel Two-in-One #54 in 1979. She was created by Mark Gruenwald, Ralph Macchio, and John Byrne, later...

Not much was made about Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes sporting a gray, bespoke suit in May set photos from Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*.
However, we have to look at them in a brand new light as it's been revealed at Sdcc that Bucky is now a Congressman.
If you recall, in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Barnes was unsure of what he should be doing with his life. With The Avengers disbanded and Steve Rodgers aged-up and out of the picture, Bucky was kind of left to drift in the wind.
However, per a Sdcc interview with Wyatt Russell (US Agent) and Stan it's been revealed that The Winter Solider is wearing finer threads these days because he's a lawmaker that works on Capitol Hill.
When making jokes about Bucky washing his vibranium arm in his dishwasher (that actually happens according to the footage shown at Sdcc), Russell and...

From an exposition standpoint, not much was revealed about the film during its Sdcc panel but according to the recaps of the exclusive footage shown, there's a scene where Wyatt Russell’s US Agent will fight Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

Marvel’s newest super-team, the Thunderbolts, made their San Diego Comic-Con debut on Saturday via first-look footage — and a relatively tight-lipped cast — during the MCU panel.
The entire cast joined the Hall H stage with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, including David Harbour in costume as Red Guardian. But his colleagues didn’t get the memo. “Oh my god, you guys didn’t dress up?,” Harbour exclaimed. “Guys! Guys! I sent that email! We all said we were going to dress up because it was Comic-Con!” Harbour quickly left to change.
While info about the movie was kept to a minimum, some select nuggets included:
*Feige’s revelation that the group’s moniker isn’t related to Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, saying that sometimes comic book writers just use the same names.
*Of her character, Julia Louis-Dreyfus said, “Valentina is after power, control and, I would say, just generally she wants...

The Bear Season 3 is off to a roaring start. The premiere episode drew 5.4 million views globally on Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and Disney+ in certain territories internationally, in its first four days of streaming, according to Disney. A view is defined as total stream time divided by runtime.
The debut episode, which aired last week, was the No. 3 most-watched season premiere ever, Disney says, as well as the No. 1 most watched FX season premiere ever and the No. 1 most-watched scripted series premiere ever.
Additionally, Season 3 continues to see an increase of 24% more views after four days compared to Season 2, according to Disney. Season 3 saw a significant boost from Hulu on Disney+ viewing and is the most viewed Hulu on Disney+ premiere since launch.
Season 3 will follow Carmy, Richie and Sydney as they work to elevate the titular restaurant, which transformed from a gritty sandwich shop to a finer dining destination.

The Bear is eating for Hulu.
The Disney-owned streamer says the third season premiere of the Emmy winner racked up 5.4 million views worldwide over its first four days of release (it premiered June 27). The show streams on Disney+ outside the United States and hasn’t premiered in every territory yet.
That 5.4 million figure — the equivalent of that many complete showings of the 36-minute season premiere — represents a 24 percent jump over the season two opener in June 2023 (which would put the latter around 4.35 million views) and the show’s biggest episode over a four-day span to date. It also snagged the largest view tally ever on Hulu for an FX season premiere, or a scripted season debut from any source. There's a lot of excitement for The Sentry's MCU debut in Thunderbolts* next year, particularly as the character could be a game-changer for this franchise moving forward.
He is, after all, one of the Marvel Universe's most powerful superheroes and supervillains, with the unhinged Robert Reynolds heading down the latter route when his alter-ego, The Void, takes control.
Lewis Pullman is playing The Sentry in Thunderbolts* and we now have some rumoured new details about his role in the movie.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, there's a "good explanation" for why he doesn't just kill the likes of Yelena Belova and Bucky Barnes when they run into him. The Sentry, who no doubt views himself as a hero, supposedly has a no-kill rule, meaning he "just kicks their asses."
As for exactly how powerful the McU's Sentry will be, Richtman claims he's, "Superman-level strong."

It’s a losing battle every single day in the restaurant business. Carmy pushes himself harder than ever, and demands excellence from his crew, who do their best to match his intensity.
Review: The first season of The Bear was an absolute triumph. In 2022, the series debuted with no major stars, and now, two years later, Jeremy Allen White, Ebon-Moss Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri are three of the most sought-after talents. With Emmys and Golden Globes to their credit, the long-anticipated third season of The Bear has debuted all ten episodes. As fans are binging through the continued story of Carmy, Richie, Sydney, and the rest of the restaurant’s crew, formerly The Original Beef of Chicagoland,...

FX’s highly acclaimed, highly anticipated dysfunctional kitchen/family drama “The Bear” returned to Hulu yesterday, June 26, to much online fanfare (fans were binge-watching the series immediately). Created by Christopher Storer and co-showrun by Storer and Joanna Calo, the two sole directors on the series thus far aside from a Ramy Youseff (“Ramy”) directorial guest spot in season two and a new slate of directors scheduled for season three, earlier this year, it was reported that “The Bear” was scheduled to shoot season three and four back to back.

Black Widow star David Harbour has taken to Instagram to confirm he's wrapped shooting on Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*. The actor has also shared what appears to be a vintage propaganda poster featuring Red Guardian at the height of the Cold War.
If we had to hazard a guess, this reminder of his past is something Alexei Shostakov keeps on his wall wherever the Thunderbolts are holed up.
As best as we can tell, the Russian writing translates to, "We Are Indomitable As The Red Guardian."
Marvel Studios is heading to Comic-Con next month and we're expecting a new look at Thunderbolts* to be released during what's sure to be a memorable Hall H panel. There's a good chance it will be released online and, if we're really lucky, we may even get to see The Sentry.

Spoiler Alert: The following piece evaluates Season 3 of “The Bear.” While major plot developments — including guest stars — have been withheld to preserve the viewing experience, the network has requested spoiler warnings on all reviews.
The second, much-improved season of “The Bear” was defined by a sense of momentum. Its 10 episodes were transitional in a literal sense, taking the FX half-hour from the closure of a family-owned Italian beef shop in Chicago’s River North to the opening of a fine dining concept in the same space. Staff members developed dishes, supervised build-out and acquired skills with a singular purpose in mind, culminating in a hectic friends-and-family service that saw chef Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) freak out in a freezer.
Season 3 — the first to air after the series swept the comedy categories at this year’s Emmys, cementing its growth from breakout hit to incumbent juggernaut — lacks a similar focus.

[Editor’s note: The below article was originally published on March 27, 2020. It has been expanded from the 50 greatest TV comedies of all time to 80, as of June 26, 2024.]
Comedy rules are made to be broken. If all laughter comes from some great psychological misdirect, then it follows that the funniest series are the ones that continue to take the unexpected routes. Some of the greatest comedies in contemporary television are arguably not comedies at all, but find moments of levity between nonstop tension and heartbreaking drama. FX’s “The Bear,” now premiering a third season, has fans and Emmy voters begging for the high-octane stress of a Chicago kitchen and clinging to the hope that any scene will end in laughter instead of tears (or an accidental stabbing).
Sometimes a comedy is memorable because of the rules that it inadvertently puts in place. Some foundational TV series have endured not because they were ratings or cultural juggernauts in their time, but because their spiritual descendants dotted programming lineups years — maybe even decades — after their cameras stopped rolling. As in other realms of entertainment,...

Hungry fans, rejoice; “The Bear” Season 3 will premiere on June 26 at 9 p.m. Eastern, three hours before its scheduled midnight release. The news was announced at the show’s press conference on June 24, with the cast gathered in-person to answer questions about the Emmy-winning series.
The conference panel consisted of Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Abby Elliot, Matty Matheson, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Ricky Staffieri. One of the first questions directed at White and Edebiri was if their characters’ relationship contains romantic undertones, to which they replied simply, and with no further comment: “No.”
The conversation ranged from inspirations the shows draws from Chicago to individual character arcs and the ongoing presence of grief in the series, which began just after Mikey’s death (Jon Bernthal). Several questions were directed at Matheson, the Canadian chef who serves as executive producer alongside his growing role as Neil Fak,...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, has confirmed that Thunderbolts* "just wrapped last week."
While reshoots are undoubtedly on the horizon, this is welcome news considering it wasn't too long ago when members of the cast openly admitted they had no idea when production would begin. Of course, last year's strikes played a role in that, and Marvel Studios now has just shy of a year to get Thunderbolts* where they want it.
Similar to other recent interviews, Louis-Dreyfus refused to give any plot details away or reveal what the deal is with that asterisk.
The actress did say she, "Loved [the production]," adding: "I got to work with really cool people, who we already know are in the film. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell. It was pretty dreamy."
Elsewhere in her conversation with Josh Horowitz, Louis-Dreyfus looked back at being enlisted for this MCU role.
