It’s safe to say Cobra Kai is one of Netflix’s fan-favorites, especially for those into martial arts and fighting. But it’s even more special for anyone who watched The Karate Kid back in the ’80s — the movie that sparked the whole series and kept the story going on streaming.

Turns out a key character never made it into the new series, and not many know why. Chad McQueen, who played the villain Dutch — the most ruthless member of the gang — would’ve been a huge addition to the show. While Cobra Kai isn’t over yet, sadly, any chance of seeing him return is now gone with the news of his passing.

Exclusive: A longtime passion project imagined by the late Steve McQueen has been revived.
Two decades after the iconic actor’s son Chad McQueen and family friend/Warner Bros exec Lance Sloan began development on the film Yucatan, Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer has been set as the screenwriter of the project that is now in early development at Netflix, we understand. Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey remain attached as producers under their Team Downey banner.
Both Netflix and Team Downey declined to comment.
McQueen’s vision involved a story about a renegade salvage expert’s search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatan Peninsula with him taking the lead. Details regarding where Dunnet-Alcocer will take the story are under wraps. Mexican writer Dunnet-Alcocer is working fresh with McQueen’s script, which was discovered years after his 1980 death as part of a collection of notebooks he left behind in a pair of trunks.

Bradley Cooper is set to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film, which will be based on Steve McQueen’s Frank Bullitt character, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Cooper will play the role of Frank Bullitt, even though Spielberg’s film will not be a remake of the 1968 film Bullitt, a car chase-filled actioner. Instead, Spielberg plans a new take on the tough San Francisco cop that McQueen played in the original film.
Bullitt starred McQueen as a San Francisco police lieutenant tasked with protecting a Chicago gangster scheduled to testify against the mob. When the witness is murdered, Bullitt is set on a path to track down the killers. The film earned two Oscar nominations and featured a head-turning, 11-minute car chase sequence. It would go on to become one of McQueen’s more enduring roles.

Every week brought a new bunch of options to your local Blockbuster or Mom & Pop store. For the purpose of this list, the titles selected are fun watches even now, that were released direct-to-video for the majority of the population, and they were decently popular on the video store shelves. Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), and Sensei Kreese (Martin Kove) aren’t the only carry overs from the original three Karate Kid films. Far from it, Cobra Kai has been masterfully tapping its source by bringing back cast members from the movies, regularly serving the fans up with colorful Easter eggs.
Some of the original characters, like Lucille Larusso (Randee Heller), Daniel’s mom, have appeared throughout Cobra Kai. She has been seen in seasons 1, 2, and 4, which is more than she was seen in the latter two Karate Kid films. The original Cobra Kai gang from The Karate Kid Part I, Bobby (Ron Thomas), Jimmy (Tony O’Dell), and Tommy (Rob Garrison) were reunited with Johnny in season 2 in one of the most poignant episodes of the entire show – the death of Tommy. It’s an emotional irony when the...

“Hey. Long time,” Kreese (Martin Kove) says at the end of Cobra Kai season 3 when he calls someone mysteriously, as if to ask a favor. Now just who could it be?
The most likely candidate is Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), Kreese’s war buddy and the main villain from The Karate Kid Part III. Season 3 of Cobra Kai explored Kreese’s backstory, adding credence to this postulation. We see Young Kreese’s (Barrett Carnahan) traumatic experience as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, and how he saved his friend that he nicknamed Twig (Nick Marini). It’s implied that Twig is Silver. In The Karate Kid Part III, Silver was a rich CEO of DynaTox Industries, an unscrupulous nuclear waste disposal company. He helped to fund the Cobra Kai schools and was a major sponsor of the All-Valley Karate Tournament. Since the...

In the new season’s two-hour premiere, Richard Rawlings and the crew will attempt to recreate the iconic chase scene from the 1968 movie “Bullitt,” where Steve McQueen’s ’69 Mustang Fastback ripped through the streets of San Francisco. McQueen’s son Chad McQueen joins the team to remake the whole thing.
The new season will also feature a partnership with Hgtv and Barry Williams of “The Brady Bunch,” who wants his 1969 Plymouth Satellite Wagon to have the same look and feel as the original Brady Wagon, but with a “bad-ass” twist, per Discovery.

Hollywoodnews.com: We had the opportunity to interview “The Vampire Diaries” star Steven R. McQueen this morning. He has a meaty role (pun intended) in the upcoming horror comedy, “Piranha 3D.”
McQueen comes from a royal Hollywood family. He’s the grandson of iconic actor Steve McQueen, and son of Chad McQueen. Of course, most people know him for his work on The CW’s hit television show. McQueen plays Jeremy Gilbert, the adoptive younger brother of Nina Dobrev’s character, Elena.
We’ll have much more on “Piranha” next week, ahead of the film’s Aug. 20 opening. But before we let McQueen go this morning, we had to ask him about the second season of “Vampire Diaries,” which is set to begin on Sept. 9.

I have to say this is one of the coolest stories I have read in a while but apparently Rdj and his wife, producer Susan Downey, have started their own production house called “Team Downey” and the first project they have lined up is called Yucatan. The awesome part is this little gem, its based off a project that was being developed by the late screen icon Steve McQueen. It was said that Downey Jr. is considering starring in the film as well.
The project has quite a history as its based on the 1700 pages of notes and storyboards by McQueen, which were discovered years after his death. Warner Bros. has been trying to gather a film based off this material for years, even having McG set to direct it back in 2007.

Additionally, he also shared his future goal to direct film features.
Asb: "The Perfect Game" is based on an inspirational true story. Did you feel any burden playing in this kind of film?
Clifton: Yes, whenever I have a true to life character to portray, I generally do as much research as possible on him or her (you'd be surprised at what can be done with make up !) ;) Also, in this case I'd call it more of an honor than a burden, I hope Ceasar [his character] is happy with what I did!
