Under the radar books - who have you discovered lately?
Hey!
Anyone read
Geneva Lee? I loved her royal sage read it all in one sitting.
M. Lauryl Lewis has a zombie apocalypse story. Very graphic and the author really paints a picture with her words.
S. M. Reine. Awesome. She has a few stories but they exist in the same world. She weaves them together pretty well.

I've added several indie authors to my buy list.
Heather R. Blair of the Phoenix Inc series - Phoenix Rising, Phoenix Fallen and soon Phoenix Broken.
Jen Winters of the Guardians series Kissing the Rain and Kissing Demons
Rachel Chanticleer of the Cresent City Arcana series The Hunter and the Witch
Kimiko Alexandre for Guardians: Awakened
I'm sure there are a few more, but these are the ones I've read recently and quite enjoyed their novels.

I really like the Royal Saga by Geneva Lee, too. I haven't read Crown me, yet.
I just finished Bear my Soul by T.S. Joyce and it was great. It was related to the Saw Bears books. They have a lot of humor. The new Fire Bears series is starting out more seriously.

My new favs this year have been
(YA paranormal) and
(urban fantasy)!
Great writing in both.
I'm keen to pick up some of the recommendations in this thread already, thanks for the ideas!

I would add S.M. Boyce and her books Grimoire Saga Complete Box Set. They have a little romance, but it's certainly not the focus, definitely more fantasy than anything. She has some beautiful descriptions, especially the rose cliffs.
I am currently reading The Short Life of Sparrows and am finding it to be unique. Granted, I'm not big time into witches, so I may be mistaken, but I like the relationship dynamics in it so far. It's refreshing to me.

I've become addicted to quite a few new authors to me that I gladly will hype right now. Warrior series by Melanie P. Smith, Mountain Wild Bears by Anya Nowlan, Guardians of Scotland series by Victoria Zak, Wolfpack Delta series by Ruelle Channing and Cam Cassidy, The Community series by Tracy Tappan and La Patron series by Sydney Addae.
Loved them all and constantly check for new books from each author.

I have been reading this series for a couple years now and I love it but I don't ever hear much about it from other UF readers. I highly recommend it!

One of my favourites too! Can't recommend highly enough.

The series used to be talked about all the time, so it's not underrated. It's just not mentioned as much anymore because it's been years since the last book. Heard the author's publisher dropped her. She said she may selfpublish the next book - however, it's been so long now it's not looking good.

If you like short, hot shifter stories (and witches), I found an author that is new to me is releasing some great ones.
I like 'My Protector' by Alanea Alder it's #1 in the bewitched and bewildered series. Also I love 'Here be sexist vampires' by Suzanne Wright. It's a kick ass book that balances humor, action and romance.
I have come across two new authors.
1. Ally Shields: Guardian Witch series
2. Gayla Drummond: Discord Jones series

Recently came across and read Big Bad Billionaire by Saranna DeWylde book 1 in The Woolven Secret and The Werewolves of New York series by Faleena Hopkins. Enjoyed both new series and looking forward to reading more from these new to me authors.
I recently discovered the Blood Destiny series by Helen Harper. It was a great surprise and I really enjoyed it.

Oh Alia I need a like button so much. I just discovered Alanea Alder series, read all 3, can't wait for more!

I really like these books too:
This book has a novella.
I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series!

Larissa and Alia, thanks I will put Suzanne Wright on my TBR list.

Thanks to everyone for their input - I've slowly been reading through the recommendations.
Want to add - Covert Craving
Another little unknown that I stumbled across recently that I'm 50% of the way through.

Also want to highlight several male authors that I believe are deserving of more attention.
The Rook by Daniel O'Malley was excellent, with a female protagonist, fantastic world building and a fresh take on urban fantasy. Book 2 must be due out soon.
And the Nightside series by Simon R Green - Amazingly inventive characters set in a fascinating world just adjacent to our own but completely unique. Where Gods are real, and vengeful, the dead have to be locked up, in case they don't stay dead and the righteous are just as deadly as the evil.
There are ten or so more books in the series, and you do need to read them in order to get the most out of the series.
And many many more.

I found this book and author on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised! The author, Aaron Speer, is an indie Australian author with a unique take on vampires. This is a first of a new series, but the ending doesn't pi$$ you off, just makes you definitely want more! The story includes romance, mystery, a believable universe centered in Australia, and characters you'll love as well as love to hate! I highly recommend giving this one a try!

So many people have been raving about how good Alanea Alder's Bewitched and Bewildered series is. Am officially putting book 1 -
- My Commander, at the top of my to-read list.
Keep the under the radar authors and tips coming.

I would recommend Nini Church's Jericho. Fun, easy read with a cool twist on Jinn, Nature Elements, and Shifters. I loved the universe she created and look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
Thank you so much - I stumbled across this thread the first day I joined. Consider me an official member of the Jane Cousins fan club.
The series was so much fun. The romances were both sexy and sweet. Heaps of action, gorgeous Heroes, strong sassy Heroines. And lots and lots of witty dialogue and laughs.
It pays to read the series in order - because of all the in jokes and secondary characters.
Jane Cousins is my new fave author - bar none.

I recently discovered Victoria Clapton. I met her here on this site. I have read three of her books now, and am in the process of reading the forth (Dark Light). It's so great to find a new author that you enjoy. I am especially glad I found out about this author because her books are different from any other I've read before. She has a unique perspective and a captivating talent.
I want to add Kory Shrum to this list. Her book
Dying for a Living - provides an intriguing world and premise. A unique heroine to root for. Plus a mystery to solve.
Don't be put off by the zombie reference - this is so not about craving blood or brains.

Since it was mentioned here a few times, thought I'd point out that books 1 & 2 of the Harper Hall series are free this week:
Book 3 is on preorder discount, too:
Love this series. Can't recommend highly enough!

I think this is an older series and may be somewhat known BUT I just found them and have been sucked in immediately.

Michelle, thanks for the recommendation. I just got .5 and 1 from the series for free from kindle to see if I like it. This is one of the best parts of being on Goodreads, getting new series to check out. I'll let you know what I think. Thanks again.

No problem! Can't beat free, right?

Has anyone read Bound by Faerie by WB McKay? I just finished it and it was AWESOME!!! I recommend this one for all readers who loves mythology creatures, snarky, kick ass heroine, and Hotties galore then check it out.
Michelle, I finished .5 and am half way through 1 in the Cindy Eller series. I'm really enjoying it. It is a lot lighter than what I've been reading lately. I'm enjoying that a lot. It funny and charming. I like that it is more character driven than story line driven. Thank you so much for the recommendation.

I got them for Kindle Unlimited they are free. I have whipped through the first 2. They are light and very PG which I am thankful for. I feel like I have read WAY too much smut in recent years. They are just fun reads, though they will get your craving sweets.

So no block-busters or machine driven PR hogs/best sellers.
I want to hear about new authors/or just starting to get some traction authors that are your newest faves.
Personally, I'm loving the Jane Cousins - Southern Sanctuary Series. They are the whole package; sweet, steamy and with lots of laughs
Likewise I think Isabel Jordan does an excellent job with Semi-Charmed
An another author who is certainly deserving of more attention is Kate Locke and her Immortal Empire Series
