Thanks, Cathie. I had fun reading it, and the discussion questions were very interesting and thought-provoking. I used to read quite a lot of fantasy/adventure books, so it was really nice to come back to this genre. I will definitely keep in mind this series for the future sake of entertainment :)

message 33: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Sorry Claire, but the only spreadsheet I see is posted in msg. 10? It says up to week one and shows I have 50 points. I have 90 points. Where is the one that my dongled brain can't find, lol?

message 34: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Sorry Cathie, I missed your two, think I was a bit jaded last night!! I've updated that spreadsheet. The first column of numbers, under the title 'points' is the current total for everyone, the next columns are the week by week numbers :) Hope that makes sense!

Danielle (thatcrazymama) I wish I could read more and even faster - but I have a full time job and don't get to spend TOO much time reading, but I do like to get reading in every day. :)

message 39: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments Same here Danielle. The joy of reading is what's important. I think sometimes here on Goodreads we can confuse reading a lot with great reading. Last year I read a lot; I was not in as much a demanding job as I am now and my life was fairly smooth and quiet, so I had time to read a lot. But looking back on it and reviewing titles I read there were many reads that didn't wow me but I did simply for challenges and for "look how much I've read" or "I've read that too". This year I have read next to nothing, because well this has been a hell of a year. But I do remember every book that I have read this year. Some from last year I had to go back and see what the plot was about or re-read the synopsis to remember the characters, etc.

For me this year, reading has become about choosing a book as much as reading it and then enjoying it without the pressure to finish it fast and move onto the next one. If it has been a great read then I probably have finished it quickly because I totally got into it and didn't want to put it down ☺

I agree - the joy of it all is what matters and what is important. I like these challenges & the buddy reads because it's making me actually excited to get back into reading. :) I didn't keep track of how many books I read last year, and this year has been a total flop for me since I had kind of gotten out of reading, but this upcoming year will be so different or me. I am going to pay attention to see how many I really read.

I am trying to not get wrapped up in rushing the books, and what I am personally doing is I am writing my own personal review in a notebook I have on each book I read before I start another.. just to get my thoughts down and my real feelings out there. I'm not great at reviewing 'professionally' so I don't tend to write them on here (goodreads) as a review. lol

Cathie (catitude) | 999 comments I love your journalling about the books you have read Danielle. What a great idea! And a nice keepsake to be able to go back and look at in the future :-).
