No No No No No. I’m not reading this. I can't do that when the main characters are people I usually hate with a passion. I want to forget about this book as soon as possible, so a quick review.
The first part of the story.
Our main characters had a one-night stand that turned into a week-long fuck fest, with some breaks, but the first hundred and twenty pages were them fucking eight percent of the time. If you like smutty books, you might like it, but I'm not a fan so I skipped almost all of them.
The third part. The second part was just them exchanging letters for twelve months, so there's not much to say.
So as it turns out - we actually know this from the prologue, but we don't know who this person is - Pierce is married and cheats on his partner with Will/Auden (that’s the same guy, just his two names). But the person he is cheating on is Auden’s sister. A very nice, loving and just sweet sister who did nothing wrong. Auden returns from the army after twelve months for his sister's wedding and then finds out that Pierce is marrying his sister, there is an explanation in the book why he didn't make the connection that they were siblings. An explanation which I still don't understand because he saw the photo when Auden was eight years old, and his wife and Auden had the same last name. I skipped to the end to see if she was cheating on him or if she was a bad person who deserved to be cheated on, but she isn't. So, I can’t do that. I hate these types of cheaters. I wish them well.
In Hell.

yes, he loves her, it would be strange if he didn't because he asked her to be his wife 😭 he also calls her sweetheart, but obviously he loves Audre more, so the wife asks for a divorce

me too me too 😭 if you don't have a problem with a character cheating on someone who doesn't deserve it and you like a lot of smut from the beginning, you might like this, I’m not a fan of both so if I could I would rate it much lower

I don't know how is that possible, but that's probably what the author tried to do 😭 I know some people like cheating in books, I don't mind if the character cheats on someone who deserves it, but here the wife simply didn't deserve it

I guess, it said it’s forbidden in the TW, and I have nothing against forbidden and cheating as long as the the person deserves it, but the wife here didn’t so I just felt extremely sad for her 😭 thank u!

Thank you for your review! I am now absolutely not picking this one up. All of what you describe sounds like I would hate it with a passion so thanks for saving me a DNF ❤️ Cheating is iffy for me - it has to be done well. And two horny dudes having a week long fuck fest lacking a true emotional connection (I'm assuming) just isn't going to make me root for them. I didn't vibe with the last book I picked up by either author so I don't know why I expected this one to be any different.

no problem! I feel the same way about cheating, if it's done right a character cheats on their bad partner then it's fine, but here I felt really sorry for the wife because she was a good person and her husband was just nasty as he could easily divorce her before starting another relationship/hookup with her brother. Yeah, for the first 120 pages they were either flirting or banging, so while I know some people can feel some kind of connection in such a short period of time (a week), I couldn't here because I felt nothing but lust between them 🥴 CE Ricci is usually a three-stars author for me, but I agree that her last releases didn't work out for me either, because the main characters were simply unlikable

yess! that's one of the main reasons why I'm not a fan of this book either, the cheating trope is just rarely done well

Ugh. You know I just finished this and I can honestly say I wasn’t crazy about it either. I actually don’t mind the cheating trope most of the time, but this book just didn’t hit the way I was expecting. I like both of the authors and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been looking forward to this book for a year now. I expected to have my heart broken and then put back together, but I honestly just sat there reading like “wtf is this?”

I couldn't wait either, but the book turned out to have the worst things that I can't stand in books 😭 if the cheating it's done right and character cheats on their bad partner then it's fine, but here I felt really sorry for the wife because she was a good person and her husband was just nasty as he could easily divorce her before starting another relationship/hookup with her brother. I have the same opinion about these authors, although the last two books by CE Ricci were very weak for me because they had cheating that could have been easily avoided if the characters did not think with their dicks 🥴 I was thinking exactly the same!

I was debating reading this book but the cheating and on his sister plot twist just seem over the top. Cheating is my least favorite trope and even when done right and I enjoy the story it still leaves me feeling guilty. Maybe because in almost all cases it can be avoided by divorcing / breaking up.

It was definitely over the top, and I was not expecting it here at all. I absolutely agree! cheating is rarely well done in books for me because characters could have just broken up or divorced their partner to be with someone else, but instead they choose to cheat 🥴 I just hate these types of people because their partner will now have trouble trusting in next relationships, I just wish them the worst

his family and everyone in his personal life calls him Auden though, but you right his first name is Will, but that was the least of my concerns about him, I actually, could understand if he wanted to lie, because it was supposed to be just a hook up, and he might not have wanted to give out his real name because he didn't plan to meet him later/ know him. But he's still a nasty cheater who bangs with his twin sister's husband, so it doesn't change anything for me 🥴

as you may or may not have seen, I read it on February 8 — the day of release, when the only reviews that existed were those from ARC reviewers that had no spoilers, so yeah I read the summary, but I don’t remember there being mentioned about the hero who bangs with his twin sister's husband.. which is the main reason why I hated this book

Y'all act like Auden and Pierce are heathens hell-bent on destroying Emily's life.
Should Pierce have stayed married to her, despite being in love with someone he thought had dedicated their life to the military, something he did not want.
Pierce DID do his research, as he clearly explained to Willliam "Auden" Thompson.
The MCs tried to ignore their feelings, hated being forced together, avoided each other when possible, expressed remorse repeatedly.
Will/Auden is about to re-enlist, to save the marriage, when Pierce approaches him, after admitting everything to Emily.
SMH.
