Guarded by the Marshal by Sharee Stover is part of her Heartland Fugitive Task Force series. This one centers on the leader himself Deputy US Marshal Beckham Walsh. He hasn't seen his former sweetheart in 30 years, but police chief Dani Fontaine still has the power to draw him in and infuriate him at the same time. When Dani Fontaine gets a call from her friend, she never expected to get shot out or to have to care for her friend's baby daughter. As her and the baby are on the run and searching for the a leak in her department, Beckahm Walsh and the Heartland Fugitive task force series work alongside. Tension is high between Beckam and Dani as they battle old hurts and misunderstandings along with the assailants that want Dani and her friend's baby dead. It will take a miracle and the whole gang to survive this one. I really enjoyed reading this one especially because Beckham and Dani were older officers. They were in their 50s and it was refreshing to see a book centered on an older couple. It had all the tension and action plus cute dogs and an adorable baby girl. It was great reading about the HFTF gang and what was happening with them. They were a major part of the story, but this totally a standalone novel. Of course, it had an epilogue. I loved it! I can't wait to read the next Sharee Stover book. I was given a book, but all opinions are my very own.
