really liked it
bookshelves: 2024, contemporary, drama, mystery, womens-fiction

A touching, meaningful, contemplative read, but gosh it took a long time to get there. So much filler! Warning, my rating may change after I’ve written my review.

Jayne I am with Margaret: no reader likes fillers! This was on my phone and was promptly returned to the library when i saw the mixed reviews and the length of the book. Look forward to seeing your review!

Jennifer ~ TarHeelReader Look forward to your full thoughts, Lisa. Happy you enjoyed it overall!

Jayme Looking forward to your thoughts. I was satisfied by the end-but struggled to get there!

Having sat on it overnight, I think 4 is probably about right, as it was an engaging, thought-provoking story, but overly-long. 💙

Thanks, Margaret. Some of the thoughts were a bit rambling. 💙

Thanks, Jayne. I normally love long books, but this one tended to over-explain.

Thanks, Jennifer. Definitely worth a read, but cutting the length would’ve made a tighter story. 💙

Thanks, Jayme. Yeah, I struggled to focus in some parts and just wanted it to get to the point.

Stacey B Glad you gave it 4*. I cant deal with filler anymore although I recognize why. But my hand makes a gesture of "hurry up" when I get caught in fill.

Yes, it’s not good when your mind wanders to other things.

Melissa (Trying to Catch Up) I agree, way too much filler, could have eliminated a couple of the characters and not dragged it out sooooooo long. But the payoff was good!

Kat I can understand your frustration with filler. I'm glad you were still able to enjoy aspects of the book!

Yes, I enjoyed how it wrapped up too. Felt it could’ve been trimmed a little, but it was still a great read.

For the most part it was great, but it was overly long.

Sheyla ✎ Taking so long to get there can take the excitement away.

Yes, it dragged in a couple of places. 💙

MonReads No fillers, please! I have this one on hold from the library, so we'll see how I manage it. :)

It was an immersive read, I just would’ve preferred it to be shorter.

I can definitely understand that. I am glad it was immersive and otherwise good!

Mary Beth has lots of catching up to do! When a book has too much filler, I usually end up skimming it. Glad you enjoyed most of it. 🧡

I didn’t skim. It was interesting enough that I read every sentence, but by the end I felt some bits could’ve been omitted.
