The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2)

I deduct a star for the outrageously improbable climactic scene, but otherwise this, like its predecessor, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is all you could want in a journalistic/police procedural. It's meaty, gory, detailed, and contains interesting and interestingly flawed characters, a strong sense of place, and a juicy mystery.
