Castle of Wizardry (The Belgariad, #4)

This is the first book of this series that undergoes a slump. There is a considerable decrease in character rationality and narrative structure, sprinkled with highly contemptible attempts at witty dialogue. Frankly, I was disappointed. It appears that the things that have been set in motion in the three books before this one suddenly skyrocket into a very awkward final execution. The characters themselves feel rushed, unable to come to grips with what is happening and how they should respond to it. I do not understand why this book is inferior to the former three, especially given the fact that a fifth book is looming in the horizon. There could seemingly be less rush and more thought on behalf of the writer. Still, you will be entertained and giggle here and there. Nothing more, though.
