did not like it

** spoiler alert ** This one started out well, but ended up not working for me. It felt like I was reading what was happening in real time. She runs away, dresses as a boy and gets on a ship. I always wonder how they hide their periods. Anyway, she is discovered as being a girl when her pants are pulled down to get a flogging for trying to stand up against abuse. After it’s discovered there is no more mention of it. It’s like the abuse no longer exists. What? No. Not for me. Then it becomes about keeping her in her cabin for weeks while they figure out what to do with her. She’s now in a dress and bonnet, even though her hair is cut to the scalp. No. I’m not interested in her future relationship with someone who lets people be starved and beaten. I’m not invested in someone who no longer thinks about it because she is now in her cabin. No. No. No. I was angry the entire time I was reading and that’s not fun for me or how I want to spend my time.
