Empire of Desire is an age gap romance with father's best friend. Knowing Rina Kent's writing this could've been so much better but I enjoyed every minute of it, even the frustrating parts.

Gwen has loved her father's best friend ever since she was fifteen years old and Nate understood her emptiness the way no one ever had before or since then. She decided to kiss him when she turned eighteen. She couldn't regret it but it made him avoid her. 

I still have no idea what to think about uncle Nate. I loved him in his nephew's books and he could be so great to Gwen with his possessiveness but his hot and cold attitude could've driven me crazy. I understood him trying to resist his best friend's daughter in the beginning but then he started sleeping with her and kept reminding her how it could just be about sex, like why would you ruin your friendship over just sex? Just no. I wanted to wake him up and start treating her right.

I loved Gwen's friends! I really hope we get to see more Jane and Chris, even have a book about either them. I kind of have a feeling that Jane will have a book with Knox.

All in all I liked how this book wasn't as dark as the usual books in the universe but I couldn't help but feel bad how Gwen felt like she was only an obligation to Nate since he was the worst at showing his feelings. I could relate to Gwen a lot with her being an overthinker and her ability to drive herself crazy with it.
