5 "What happens when you meet your match?" Stars

Ginger Scott once again showcases why she's a tour de force in sports romance writing with her new contemporary love story Memphis. This latest offering Scott tells the story of two broken souls fighting to maintain their senses of self in the only ways they know best. Each with their guards up for different reasons and not at all searching for each other, they find a kinship through the dysfunctional family that brings them together in the sport of boxing.

"Like a fighter."

Olivia Valentine never wanted a boxer. Growing up the way she had Olivia wanted something more than what was provided for her. She discovers the hard way the grass isn't always greener on other sides. She's troubled, guarded, and has a bitter edge to her. Throughout the course of the story as she begins to thaw and make realizations about herself and the kind of happiness she wants readers get to see this deep, multi dimensional character for whom we can really relate to as a person. Her kindness and her ethos keep her strong and whole as she navigates a life she never wanted to come.

"Something inside me knows her...."

Memphis Delaney has one goal. As a broken man from nowhere who never belonged to anyone Memphis sets out to do what his birth father couldn't as a way of giving meaning to his life. He finds himself in the clutches of people who help achieve his goals ... or so he thinks. What he doesn't expect is the upset of the delicate balance on which he so precariously teeters in his quest to become a champion boxer. He's a profound character who knows what he wants. His raw honestly makes him one of the most vulnerable alpha males I've read and that was so refreshing.

The secondary characters in this story allow for great plot thickening as Ginger Scott moves the story between Liv and Memphis forward. Friend and foe alike lend interesting twists and turns to this story that were unexpected yet perfectly woven into the fabric of their lives. But what really makes it stand out is the connection between Liv and Memphis and the how each of them need something so badly just never knew what it was until they recognized it in each other.

"Who do you become?"

With colorful and precisely detailed prose Ginger Scott takes us on a journey of making two lost souls whole again. Her writing affords readers the opportunity to crawl inside her pages and become a part of this world wrought with betrayal, hope, and love. Memphis is a bit edgier than some of Scott's other works, a little more mature but no less compelling in nature. She opens her characters up in a way that makes us feel their emotions while taking them and us through the steps to heal. I'm grateful for the time I spent with Memphis and Liv and think sports romance readers will fall in love with their story.
