I think this book was even better than the first book in the series!
In book 1 we needed to be introduced to the world, characters and character relationships. We still needed to get to know Sigrid and what drives her. In book 2 #TheValkyriesShadow we already know everything about Sigrid, her feelings, the world. We have already experienced things together with Sigrid and so we got thrust immediately into action, her new life. We know her. And so I feel like this one was much more fast paced than book 1 and I *really* enjoyed that.
There was more action, more character development, more things happening between Sigrid and Mariam and we got more mysterious glimpses into Sigrid and her... let's call it familial situations.
There were higher stakes, more situation in which I was really emotionally invested and just... this book is just written well! You start reading, the chapter are short, quick and fast paced and you just don't want to stop, because every chapter ends on a mini cliffhanger.
And talking about cliffhangers; this book does end on one. Not a brutal one where you're left hanging mid action, but still one that will make you want to continue with the next book right away. Well, jokes on me in this one, because book 3 isn't even out yet. So, I guess I'll just have to sit and wait...😅
