Thank you to Simon & Schuster Australia for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!

Romantic, funny and swoon-worthy.

We follow the story of Sera Madden - a young woman who loves animals and owns an animal shelter. Sera takes in animals of all shapes and sizes who are in need, and with the help of Toby McManus - her best friend and vet - she nurses sick animals back to health.

Sera and Toby have been best friends for years - their shared love of animals and movie nights at each other's houses, is still as strong as it was two years ago when they became friends. Set in NSW, Australia, I enjoyed picturing the ocean and bush, and it set the scene perfectly.

Sera's life takes an unexpected - but not unwanted - turn when famous actor Ethan James walks into her shelter after finding a dog in his backyard. What starts off as Sera helping Ethan becomes something full of new opportunities and possibilities. Meanwhile, Sera is beginning to question if her best friend, Toby, has feelings for her.

While the love triangle was intriguing, I feel like it came on a bit too strong, too fast. The love triangle was apparent within the first few chapters, and it took over the whole storyline. Instead of focusing more on the animals - as I would have preferred - the story focused on Sera's inability to make up her mind, and it let the book down.

The love triangle also frustrated me because the indecision was hurting everyone involved. There was a spotlight on Sera's relationships rather than on the animal shelter and saving animals.

Apart from the love triangle taking centre stage in the novel, I adored the idea of a book focusing on having an animal shelter. I loved how both Sera and Toby loved animals, especially the latter, who was always happy to help the animals in any way he could.

Perfect for fans of a romance with a love triangle!
