"An Invitation to Die" by Tanushree Podder is my first foray into crime fiction, and I can confidently say that it was worth the read. Set in Ramsar, the story revolves around a murder and the subsequent investigation by the police, with several suspects in the mix. It follows a familiar murder mystery plot, reminiscent of what we often see in movies, complete with a likely murderer.

The plot maintains a moderate pace, and what sets this story apart is the meticulous description of both the characters and the setting, which lends a sense of realism throughout. Furthermore, the writing style is rich and captivating, yet accessible enough for beginners to interpret the story without difficulty.

The standout character in the entire plot is undoubtedly Colonel Acharya, who not only serves as the protagonist but also acts as the sole solver of the captivating mystery. While the plot itself is straightforward, the story is presented in a flamboyant manner. The climax may be predictable, and the title itself is undeniably eye-catching. From beginning to end, the story is engaging and never once becomes dull, making it an enjoyable read for any avid reader.

Overall, "An Invitation to Die" deserves praise as a well-crafted crime fiction novel. I would highly recommend it to fans of the genre.
