bookshelves: romance, queer-content-by-queer-creators, lgbt

A classic Tal Bauer mix of pulse-pounding action and swoony romance. His characters are always so deeply in love from the very beginning, even when they don't realize it right away. I find it really moving and I'm really glad it's out there as a form of queer joy. This isn't as impeccably plotted as Secret Service but still definitely a 5-star read for me.

A note on the audiobook: I find John Solo's pronunciation of Puchkov (like Puke-ov) to be maddeningly irritating. I definitely prefer eyes over ears for this one.

“I never thought that I would feel this way for a man. But I do. I want you, Ethan. And now I have to figure out what to do about that.” He crossed his arms and shifted across his feet. “I want to figure out how to make this work. Together. I want to try, Ethan. Because…” A pause, as Ethan felt his heart burst. “Because when you truly fall for someone, you have to be willing to try anything to make that work. So I am asking you… Can we figure this out? Can we make this work?”
