The Road Through Rushbury (Seasons of Change, #1)

It's not a "bad" book per se, just felt bland. In the beginning I had high hopes for the story but it just fell flat. It took me longer than usual to read because the characters just didn't excite me. We never really learn much about Georgiana other than that she's had eight seasons. What happened during those seasons? Nothing at all, apparently. What are her hobbies? She seems to have no interests. Sure, she takes up the surveyor position, but it's thrust upon her rather than being her own decision. At least Samuel has his garden. Very little actual chemistry between them. It felt like the hero and heroine didn't know each other well enough to be in love. They kept saying how they knew each other so well but how much time did they actually spend together? I also didn't like how Aunt Sara was sidelined throughout the book when she was the whole reason Georgiana left London. And we never met the woman she kept mentioning was coming to stay with her, so why mention her at all? I've heard good things about Martha Keyes so I'll give her other books a read, but this one was just not for me.

You should read The Art of Victory series by her. They are so good! This definitely was not her best work.
