An invitation to die by Tanushree Podder is a fictional murder mystery, set in the hilly town of Ramsar, Uttarakhand. The story begins with a van going missing, which belongs to an owner of a coffee shop. Finally, when police traced the van, they found a dead body of a man, which was at first thought to be a suicide case, but after post-mortem, they found several injury marks.
Colonel Archarya and the ASP start with the investigation and the plot slowly unfolds.

The setting of the novel, and the peace-loving people of Ramsar, closely knitted, enjoying a cozy comfortable life with friends and family, was portrayed neatly. The story started off well and I thought it might be related to Pia’s coffee shop. But to my surprise, the plot moved in a completely different direction and the plot was unpredictable for me. Colonel Archarya did try his best to impress the reader with his investigation and at times it gave me Kaka Babu vibes ( the famous Bengali detective kakababu).
What I didn't enjoy at times were scenes in the book which did make it slow.
I enjoyed Laxmi's character, the most 'chatakdar' gossipy character. I am hoping as a reader we are going to get more of Arjun Archarya'ss series solving mysteries soon from the author.
