Truly magical. This was a dark, deep, messy, heartbreaking story — but Miranda’s writing is beautiful and haunting. I absolutely loved it, and flew threw it… and teared up when it was over.
I see how people either love or hate this; it’s hard. It’s uncomfortable and just a whole lot of complexity… but wow, what beautiful storytelling.
One thing I loved the most was the relationship between Elle and her mom. It was alarming for some time, as was Wallace’s relationship with her own mother, but man… if this isn’t real life, I don’t know what is. The chains we pass down, the curses we break. Just really… good. And hard.
Tw: rape, incest, sickness, death/dying, adultery — it was hard for me, but I feel like a better person for knowing the story of The Paper Palace.
