I loathe the dead ex trope...loathe it...
...unless it's written by Nicole Jacquelyn or Aly Martinez. And then I'm willing to die on the proverbial Dead Ex Hill. With funeral bells on.
And this book not only had the dead ex thing going on...it had it twice over.
But it was fine. Because, like I said...Aly Martinez.
Anyway, things were going well and I was liking the couple well enough...I did feel like I was being told their story instead of shown it at times...and I feel like some things were little rushed....but I still thought their connection was decent. And the kids and their relationship with the kids was adorable.
But then the last part of the book happened...
And I felt like we were in a bad episode of General Hospital.
It suddenly felt like a completely different book that was a little too fantastical. I would have liked it more had it stayed...grounded. But oh well. It was a decent read and I enjoyed it well enough.

lol @ your quip about the ending reminding you of General Hospital. I'm with you on kinda loathing the dead ex trope, but the fact that you mentioned this author pulling it off has me wanting to read some of her other work. Great review, Val!

I loved this book! This is a great review and now that I think back on it, your depiction of the end is very true🤣It went kinda sideways but it didn’t lessen my love for it in the least💛
That sums up how I felt perfectly. The last quarterish I was like, what’s this now? Definite out of the blue soap vibe that didn’t quite make sense. But an enjoyable read none the less.

I just finished this book...and enjoyed it...BUT. I have questions...if you have not read the book...STOP here.
So, did Rob date Bree just somehow knowing she was someday going to have a large money making company he could steal from? I mean I am have heard of the long con...but wow!! And to have this long friendship with Eason, taking him on a road trip to help his career. Then to find out that Rob hated Eason and never thought he would amount to anything? I'm a little confused. Anyone else left with questions. With all that being said...I did really like Bree and Eason.
