The Sanatorium (Detective Elin Warner, #1)

This was just SO utterly disappointing. I'm so tired of being bored to tears and let down by these "thrillers". This one tried so hard. Too hard, some (ME 🤚🏼) might say.
The characters were so one dimensional. There was a little bit of "traumatic" back story for Elin, the main character, to give her some depth but it felt so contrived and so lame. It fell completely flat. I wasn't invested in her story in the slightest. And the other characters weren't even remotely interesting. I felt more connected to Adele; a small character who dies early on, than with anyone else in this story! By the end when everything is revealed I found myself going, "that's it??"
I had such high hopes for this. *sigh*
