I do not usually give reviews on one star because I think that rating says enough, but I would have given a zero stars if that was possible. This review might be scattered because there is so much I would like to discuss in a concise review to help anyone that is thinking about reading this.
This book is not for the female looking for eye opening or new solutions to burnout. You could read a social media post on stress and get the same information. I knew on page xviii of the intro that it was going to be a hard book to get through. I am a feminist, this book is over the top. This book might help you if you have an extreme case of ‘human giver syndrome’ or hate men (examples of men bashing and ‘him’ was used as a negative connotation). The examples of this were over the top and I am so glad that most women don’t feel this way.
I tried to check references and it was very hard. I couldn’t find some of the references for page 82, I even used the college library system in case it was dissertation material. Author conveniently left out the word ‘apparently’ in reference 4 of chapter four - this is a very big deal for integrity of work and trust. I feel this was done to make her point. The study results mentioned at the bottom of page 84 are not referenced at all.
I could go on, but I think I have said enough. I will end with two pages, in the total of 273, that I liked. They were page 124 about listening to your body and the middle of page 214 about bringing joy and trusting ourselves as females.
