Dre Ferreira I agree completely. I’ve never really understand the hate this book got, I think it was really the saltiness from the deaths but aside from that, it was a well crafted finale that does what it’s supposed to and what I think SC intended.

Leilah Personally, I love the epilogue. But that's just me. And I love this novel.

Blue Same, and I'm slightly okay with the epilogue, because I had been shipping.

Lisen It doesn’t really hold up to the other two but it’s still a really well crafted story

nay i remember feeling completely shocked and numb when they bombed the children
this book gave me real NIGHTMARES

karnam vashisht The hunger games series helped me through a really tough times. When I had typhoid a couple of years ago. I finished the entire series in three days. I was kinda mad at Katniss for giving up on Peeta this easily because if it would've been the other way around Peeta would've never treated Katniss so distantly. And let's not even talk about Finnick. I cried!!!

Jade this may be my least favorite in the series and im stuck in the middle currently, but ive NEVER understood the hate that this book gets.

Lien I agree. I just reread this this week and damn. I feel like I probably didn’t understand half of it when I first read it but it hit hard this time.

Cosette Loved Mockingjay

Ellie Suzanne Collins knew she was ripping our hearts out and she. did. THAT.

Júlia Sodré Agreed lol

Emily Glad I'm not the only one who loved Mockingjay and didn't understand all the disappointment and dislike for the book

Elisa Hadly Suzanne Collins was literally like
“Hey! Nice to meet you, here’s Katniss, Prim, Peeta” *everybody falls in love with those characters*
“Now I have a surprise!” *she rips into our chest and pulls out our beating hearts*
“Here! My gift to you!”
And now we just start crying. Lol I agree

Caro I never understood the hate and Mockingjay is kind of my favorite in the series

patrick bateman honestly I hate the series cause I had to review it for school lmao and I just have a burning hatred for it but I’m glad everyone else liked it and it made a huge impact for them :)

Kazekiel my exact opinion, fellow Kat

Lourdes Gomez Well, I do understand the hate
I swear I don't see any growth in Katniss, the third book finishes just like the second one started: we have a depressed and volatile Katniss who only tortures herself for "the deaths she's caused". Because of course, everyone dies for her so its her fault and she'll chew on it for all eternity .. mmm, they are actually adults who knew where they were going and who sacrificed themselves (a word that implies knowledge and intention) for her. You are not the center of the world sweetie, don't torture yourself.

If there's something that seems too cliché to me it's when two physically different characters have children and they describe them as a mixture between the two .. ajjj, terrible .. at least she did not name them (* coughs in HP *)

Finnick is the best character of the book and he died in the blink of an eye, we never really got to know Prim so her death did not generate anything inside me, her mother is as emotionally coward as Katniss, Tigris was very interesting but we know nothing about her life and Gale, by the end of the book, disappeared making it very easy for her to decide who to choose (which was SUCH A BIG DEAL during the trilogy), she should've ended up alone, it wasn't even her choice to have children.

I expected more, much more .. it's a fucking war !!!! The war that will end the slavery of an oppressed country and, throughout the book, we have a main character that doesn't have the will to live, unnecessary deaths and no war ... let's be honest, she did nothing for the cause and we didn't get to see any action because, once again, she was unconscious (passing out is out of fashion Suzanne, you used it way too much already .. let me hear about the war with her own words, experiences and feelings, give me something !!).
When she finally kills Coin, acting for once like the brave, determined, and independent 12yo Katniss who took care of her family or 15yo who volunteered for her sister; instead of standing up and fighting for his ideals, she chooses the lames path and tries to commit suicide, which leads me to think that she probably did not take her life because she saw the whole picture and the consequences that Coin's mandate could lead to, but for the simple fact that she killed Prim .. mm, weak, stupid and rushed, sorry not sorry.

Shani The epilogue should not exist and Gale should have died instead of [redacted] but I agree this book did not deserve the hate it got.

LadyKim I had a mental breakdown from Chapter 27 and was crying nonstop like I was possessed

Lydia Florizone Oof harsh towards your followers. 😬😬 Didn’t like half of this book because it was drawn out and no character growth. Loved the emotional bits and all the other stuff though.

Lydia Florizone Feeling self conscious now of my opinion lol

Alison Wilkinson YESSS, IGNORE THAT EPILOGUE

Ollie Mockingjay is the only book i've read cover to cover twice and STILL don't understand any of the words in it. The movie was far better at helping me understand the plot which..... Does not a good book make.

message 25: by Gia (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gia Epstein Mockingjay was my favorite... until the end. I didn’t want her to end up with Peeta, but no one really did. When I saw that there was an epilogue I got really excited, but I read it and I was VERY disappointed. I was expecting Gale, her Mom, Johanna, and who ever else to come visit her. But I guess it was implied that no one did.

That one queer me: *reads the review*
me 10sec later: *mind* aaaaaaaaannnnnnnddddd follow

Annika I remember disliking the book, I know for a fact I hate the epilogue, but I mostly fear my current re-read because of my love for Finnick :(
