it was ok

Originally rated this 3 stars, but lowered it to a 2 upon further reflection. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, but I really and truly hated the way this book ended. I can't really talk about why without going into spoilers, so: (view spoiler). And for some other less spoilery things I disliked: Kristen VERY MUCH had an ~*i'M nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs*~ thing going on, and Josh was WAY too eager to put other women down to raise her up. I'm gonna stop writing this review now because I honestly dislike this the more I think about it. Ugh. UGHHHHH.

Mel from YouTube Channel Mel’s world As someone who deals with infertility I completely agree

saania jamal ✧ BIG YIKES

Liber_Lady I can't stop having issues with this book. The Book started well and with every new issues, it went down the drain.

mk YUP! However, in the Acknowledgments it was noted that she based Kristen on her friend who struggled with infertility in the exact way she wrote, who ended up conceiving naturally twice. BUT I still think it took away from the story to include the miracle baby

Rehey I def think (if at all it needed a “happy ending”), it should have been Sloane pregnant and they are thrilled to help out raise S and B’s baby . It was a fun book for a while, but agree with the review that the ending and all the typical romance novel tropes that led to the ending really spoiled things.

Julie You completely summed up my feelings about this one. I can't even really rate it, I was really enjoyed it until about 70% in and then it just started going down hill for me. And the ending, it was too much

clara Describes my feelings exactly.

Marigold5442 I agree, I also at first rated it at a 3 as there were elements of the characters and story I liked, but ultimately decreased it to 2 stars for many of the reasons listed in this review and comments.

Amanda Thanks for the review, because I do not want to read a book where the infertile woman gets magically preggers thanks to magic and the extra virile sperm of the hero. Nope, will stay far away from this one.

Yep, i absolutely agree with this review. Even though the writer does say that the character was inspired by a friend who went through infertility and then was able to get pregnant too. I also would have much preferred another ending with, I don’t know, no children, or adoption even. It’s shame really.

That1 Creative Lady Maybe I am the only one who read (heard) the author's note that mentioned that this was based of of her friends REAL LIFE fertility journey and that it happened this way for HER. And that every fertility story is different. If the woman whose life the book is based upon happened to get pregnant while dealing with fibroids and tumors, why would the author feel the need to remove that child from the story? If the book was based on me and my journey, and my friend did that, I'd be more offended than the women who are offended by someone else's non-fictional HEA.

Liz Thank you for your honest review. It saved me from getting into this book.

Angela I wish your trigger warning was more specific about the accident and death. I might not have read this if I knew the friend had a head trauma and then become brain dead.

Brittany I felt similarly about the ending, but forgave the author once I read it was loosely based off a close friend who did end up conceiving.

Lourdes I kinda get it, but as someone who is a miracle child after having mother deal with infertility, it was kind of nice to see. I get why it can be a bit unbelievable, it was still nice to see.

Vern Francis I rated this three stars and I might change it to two. Every time I think about it I get annoyed. Between the ending, the she's not like other girls, and the "Cool Girl" stereotype-->I eat tacos/swear/play poker/maintain 110-pound frame/quote Pulp Fiction, etc., I may have to down my rating a bit, the only thing holding me back is the author's willingness to address infertility issues and have a man talk period talk without actually running for the hills.

message 18: by Mia (new) - rated it 3 stars

Mia Rose I didn't thought about this a lot.. because I was already bummed.. but now.. *shakes head*

Sofia Malika 10/10 agree

Lauren could not agree more, this is her worst book for sure

Sarah Jenkins Just a different point of view from someone who struggled with fertility: This is not my favorite of hers, but as someone who struggled with infertility for years and literally said "I am done trying and am giving up on this" before falling pregnant a month later...her becoming pregnant doesn't make me upset. It took me back to the same emotions I felt when I was finally pregnant with my son after being convinced that it just wasn't going to happen. I know not all stories end how mine did, but I think if it happens to someone (real or fictional) it gives some glimmer of hope to those struggling with fertility.

Amanda Caroline Mas ela escreveu baseado na história real da amiga dela, e a amiga engravidou, eu não posso ter filhos e fiquei muito feliz por ver a Kristen engravidar!

Rebecca Jean (meaningfulmundane) McKenna Yep. This take is it.

Sally This review is *chef's kiss*

Megan Disagree - the author’s note at the end explains why perfectly. It’s not a universal experience and it came directly from her friend’s lived experience

Marissa Derain Okay I see your point but I think she absolutely did define herself by her infertility. The whole book was her telling herself she’s not good enough because she wouldn’t be able to bear children for this man. Completely robbing him from the ability to make the decision for himself!!

Georgia Luscombe Abby states in epilogue that it wasn’t Kristen’s happy ending to have a baby but allowing herself to be loved - it’s loosely based off her own friends struggles with infertility

Brittany I’m not finished yet but started reading reviews because I can feeeeel it that Kristen will end up pregnant after Brandon’s accident (which I’m so pissed about lol).

Maria I experienced 5 years of fertility treatments and a 16 week loss only to be followed by a spontaneous pregnancy. Although I understand that it seems impossible, it can happen!
