The mystery of 2 missing girls abroad was interesting, especially with a journalist's own son missing as well. Didn't realize this was part of a series, so may have had a higher rating had I gotten 2 other books to connect to these characters.
For me, too many reveals happened too early, then 200 pages of nothing that interested me, ending with a quickly wrapped up conclusion and overused convenient monologue. Was relatively engaging, but with too many side stories and characters to care about. One reveal in particular impressed me, bumping this up an entire star.

Mariana Ferreira I’m not sure reading it all would have helped. I read The Widow and thought the structure ruined the whole suspense. I reviewed it on YT, if you want to check it out, but overall I think Fiona Barton is just a big pass

Gigi (imaginingbetweenthepages) Currently reading it now and I see what you mean about 200 pages of nothing that interested you.

London Howell Agreed. Also agree with Mariana. I accidentally read Book #2 first, and if I’d read The Widow first, I probably wouldn’t have continued at all.

Frankie Prater-Cockayne I’m with you too. I had no idea it was part of a series until I’d finished and noted it on goodreads as read and it came up with (book #3)
It didn’t make much difference as it didn’t read like it was a follow on from a series for me. Not sure I would bother reading the others anyway .

Karen I have read all 3 books & if you start with the first one it follow the journalist detective through all 3 books ..
A little slow but good storylines.
