Woman 99 is a stunning look at the lengths we will go to in order to protect (and rescue) our sisters and friends. It was also a sobering evaluation of mental health and its treatment in the U.S. The women in the fictional Goldengrove were deemed insane for a variety of reasons and the cures prescribed for them were inhumane and cruel.

At the heart of Woman 99 is a heartwarming story about the need to survive against all odds and the powerful bonds of female friendship.
