Oooh that was good. Elliot and Macy became best friends when she and her father bought a vacation home next door to Elliot after the death of her mother. She found him reading in her closet and that was that. Any time Macy would visit, she and Elliot were inseparable and their bond lasted and expanded well into their teens.

The story switches between then and now (eleven years later). Macy is a pediatric resident and Elliot a writer. It's obvious their relationship ended on New Year's Eve eleven years ago with the two never speaking again. But a chance encounter reignites their friendship and what went wrong is slowly revealed.

And it's gooood. It's worth the angst. The author got me. I wasn't expecting that. Such an amazing story. Well done!
