bookshelves: audiobook, dnf, to-read

Had to DNF this at 40% in. I could not stand behind the hero blackmailing our character and forcing her do to things out of fear. Nothing about that is consensual in my eyes and I didn’t want to keep reading.

Steph Totally agree!! This one was a struggle to get through. I hated the “hero” and how he forced the heroine into so many disgusting situations. I don’t understand why so many people love this book!

Natasha I didn't have a problem with the story line or how truly bad the hero was but I have yet to see anyone comment on how bad the writing was. I can't even put it into words it was just poor. It felt like the writing of a high school kid. And the worst part was that it was written entirely in the past tense?? Did anyone notice that?

I was practically ripping my hair out in frustration. Don't use the past tense when describing the present!! It's so weird! This isn't the past!

I almost dnf as well but I forced myself to finish. Ugh, it felt like work.

Though I'm confused why anyone would see this as consensual... That is kinda the whole point. He's forcing her. Because he's a bad dude.
