Things hot up for the cat clan - quite literally, when the forest catches fire! Bizarrely, the series is written by six writers - none of whom are called Erin Hunter - and sometimes it shows, when, for instance, a character has a whole change of personality. In this case it is Cloudtail who veers from arrogant and rude overconfidence, to visiting a human and accepting catfood (and growing very fat) to sudden complete compliance to the Code and tolerant humaneness (yup, there are a lot of human traits exhibited and not so many cat ones). These are enjoyable stories but the sermonising of 'the right way to behave' is not far below the surface and the main child-centred thrust.
