really liked it
bookshelves: 1980-89, 2023, translations, stand-alone-read

I just loved it. Far away from modern technology, all dependent on human intelligence and cunning, this was a treat to read.

The Wanderer I had heard it's a difficult book to read. Language wise. Was it the case?

I have read the book. So I can give you some idea. Language wise it's neither easy nor difficult. Some paragraphs are difficult to comprehend as it gets very descriptive at times. But 95% of the book was easy for me to follow. If you are a non Christian, you may struggle to understand the novel at times as Catholic theology forms a major chunk of this novel. I think that's why many people find this novel difficult to read and comprehend. It has less to do with difficulty in language. Since I am Catholic, it was a comparatively easy read for me as I have a basic idea of the Catholic doctrines, Catholic saints, the Catholic Church and Biblical stories which are often referenced in this novel.

Hey thanks! I have heard of this book but wasn't sure I'd be able to follow. The summary looks interesting. I've never read this author. So wasn't sure how difficult the book is. (Had heard somewhere its like the Wolf Hall)

You may still like it even if the book is esoteric. The murder mystery will keep you interested if not the theological digressions. So do give it a try. Needless to say, it's one of my all time favourite books and the best book I read in the year 2021.
