it was amazing

I read this for work and I struggled my way through it. This was and still is the hardest book I've ever read. I wish it were a fiction. When I finished reading this mans story, I couldn't have it in my house anymore. I gave it to a friend of mine who is a teacher and asked her to pass it on when she was done. She told me she also struggled to get through it but felt that all teachers should read Dave's story. It's a sad and disgusting example of how so many people failed him.

Laura I actually saw this guy on Oprah a few years ago and his story was so horrible I never had any desire to read the book. Although I'm sure it's good, I probably never will.

Christy J. Fields-Pierce I agree with Monica, on these books..I cried a lot through this book. I also agree that every teacher should read.

Carla i got 50 pages in to the book and cried i felt phsyically sick and had to get some air. i remeber reading it when i was younger but don't remember how nasty it is. i respect him though not many people would want to tell a story like that with that level of abuse!

Shannon Sauve I read this back in high school and it helped me in alot of ways.... I couldn't put the book down in class. It made me feel bad for thinking I had such a horrible life. I could connect but then I realized how to overcome situations. Control. All we can do is control our actions and our choices. I struggle to this day bcuz I am emotional and hold hurt. But I have gotten better and its amazing when u realize u hold all the power. People may hurt u but that is temporary. U let it go and move closer towards a better path. I decide. This is also an amazing part of my connection with my partner. This is his fav book as well. To this day I know I found my soulmate bcuz of this book and out weird connection to the story....I recommend this a thousand times over. It was sad but also made me feel hopeful. How could someone endure all of that pain and abuse..and still be so selfless. It's been my favourite book because it made me feel a need to connect more with people and not judge...no one knows what the other person is going through..
