It's just a complete regurgitation of mainly book two. If we're just going to get a complete retelling I would have preferred the high school days of book one. There were so many more scenes where I wished I was in Adam's head.
Beside Your Heart and Disclosure of the Heart are great reads but save your time and money and pass on this one.

I would have loved to have an epilogue, but otherwise this was a really good read.
Annika is on the spectrum. That added some originality to the story, which I love. I've read quirky or odd heroines before but Annika is on another level. I thought Graves did a great job putting us in her shoes. How she misses social cues, how she flubs social situations, how she worries about it, what it takes to center herself. It takes a special kind of man to "get" her. And that's Jonathan. He's patient and protective and sweet. He loved Annika so much. But how far can someone go in a relationship without getting it in return?
Told in two timelines ten years apart, this book really takes us on Annika's journey of self-reliance and how to be reliable to others I highly recommend. Well done....more

Great love story. I love second chance romance especially when the separation isn't the H/h's doing. Lorelai found Ash half dead and nursed him back to health. However, she could do nothing for his amnesia. But young love develops and is quickly crushed by Lorelai's cruel older brother.
Twenty years later Ash is no longer. He's now known as The Rook, a ruthless pirate. But he's never forgotten the promise he made to Lorelai. And when he returns for her he's not the sweet boy she used to know. Can she develop feelings for this hardened man?
I really liked this book. I liked the connection to The Highwayman. Lots of new revelations. That's really the only book I would suggest you need to read prior to this one. Otherwise, it's a stand alone. Looking forward to more. Well done. ...more

Dane andYesss. I loved everything about this book. The male narrator tended to overact but even that didn't distract from how much I loved the story.
Dane and Audra met as teenagers. Their chemistry was all-consuming and even at their young age with all their obstacles they began to build a life together. The story alternates between then and now. Now it's obvious they aren't together anymore. Their relationship didn't survive a certain tragedy. I liked the back and forth discovering what happened. It was very sad.
Audra is now living a half life. The only thing she has is her business and when that's threatened she has no choice but to fly to California from Colorado to see Dane again. Their reunion was emotional but they weren't able to get everything out in the open until their lives were in danger.

Oooh that was good. Elliot and Macy became best friends when she and her father bought a vacation home next door to Elliot after the death of her mother. She found him reading in her closet and that was that. Any time Macy would visit, she and Elliot were inseparable and their bond lasted and expanded well into their teens.
The story switches between then and now (eleven years later). Macy is a pediatric resident and Elliot a writer. It's obvious their relationship ended on New Year's Eve eleven years ago with the two never speaking again. But a chance encounter reignites their friendship and what went wrong is slowly revealed.
And it's gooood. It's worth the angst. The author got me. I wasn't expecting that. Such an amazing story. Well done! ...more

I'm conflicted. This book knocked me on my ass right out of the gate. The storyline hooked me. I absolutely loved the characters. I was there with them feeling their heartbreak and later putting the pieces back together. But then things started happening that I didn't like or didn't agree with.
For instance, I hated Jake's decisions he made on Conor's behalf. It was risky and unfair. But, on the other hand, it added to Conor's loneliness and the strength she dug deep for made me love her more. I also didn't get what right Jake had to help Conor. I wanted to know when he got his degree in psychology. That was irresponsible and could have backfired. And lastly, it's hinted at that Jake is into (view spoiler)[bdsm (hide spoiler)] but nothing ever really came of it.
In the end I'm still giving a high rating because the feelings I experienced throughout the book are one of the reasons I read. Overall, the things I didn't like were minor in comparison to what I loved and I still highly recommend....more

How the Light Gets In is book 2 of the Cracks duet. It paled in comparison to book one. It's set eleven years later, which is good but Cosway just kind of rushed through what they've been up to. Unputdownable. Love two women/1 man love triangles. It ups the angst factor in my opinion. Don't know why. Quinn and Daisy were childhood friends and teenage lovers. They were always meant to be together. But Alexis was their friend too. And she was there for Quinn when Daisy had to move. Now they're all at the same college and all that old hurt has resurfaced combined with betrayal to make it one helluva read.
My only criticism is I think I would have liked Alexis added to the epilogue. I don't think she was a villain and I do wish for her to have a happy life. I hope she did. But, overall, excellent read and I'm looking forward to more from Toby and Pippa. Well done....more

Just as emotional and heartbreaking as Wolfsong. I felt Gordo's pain and abandonment when Thomas and Mark and the pack left him in Green Creek. I understood his resentment and bitterness long after they returned.
Rico and the guys along with a new character, Bambi, added some comic relief. I also loved the storyline. The added dimensions flowed nicely and made me say, "oh no" more than once. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for bad things to happen. But you can trust TJ. Just brilliant storytelling. Looking forward to more. ...more

I really liked it. Jonathan and Kennedy were high school lovers and they both ran to LA to make Jonathan's acting dream come true. His career launched but their relationship didn't survive.
Six years later Jonathan has returned to Bennett Landing to make things right with Kennedy and their daughter, Madison. Jonathan is one year sober but he has many wrongs to right.

I've been looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint. Felix just got out of prison and is on a mission to find Maggie, the love of his life and mother of his son, to find out why she disappeared. But first we're taken through ten years of their history together. I liked their story. I could feel their love and passion. I also liked reading about younger Jared. He was a handful but he was also a good man in the making.
The reader finds out before Felix why Maggie didn't visit him in jail and it's a good one albeit tragic. And I knew Felix was going to blow when he found out. It kept me turning the page.
The only thing I had a problem with was Felix's immaturity when he was first released. He held onto his grudge too long imo and he just kept making things worse. But I ain't mad. Another winner from Fields. Well done....more

Jayson and Delaney are a hot mess. They're users and enablers. They're poor and homeless. In no way is their relationship healthy. But...they're so upbeat and optimistic it's easy to feel their love and root for them. But something has to give.
The story alternates between past and present. Told mostly from Jayson's pov. It's angsty and I cried often. The ending was perfect. Just a beautiful story of love overcoming all odds. I absolutely loved it. ...more

I admit I had low expectations. I did not like the direction book two took or the way it ended. But this book surprised me. I didn't hate it. There were a few things I felt Hawkins just flat out ignored. Like that was the only way to make this work. And as I was getting deeper into the story I, surprisingly, didn't have a problem with it. The time jump was a must and I'm glad Hawkins included it. Lake seriously needed to mature and live her life on her own terms.
Of course there were moments that made me roll my eyes, from Manning and Lake, but I liked that Hawkins stuck to the meat of the story. She didn't bog us down with anything irrelevant or artificially contrived. I also liked the way Lake and Tiffany settled things. It felt real and grown up and still shaky. I also liked the ending - imperfect but hopeful. Not bad. ...more
