Shen is a master at creating the asshole hero and, in my opinion, Alex is her assholiest yet. If you can believe it. And I loved it. Alex is a rock star fresh out of rehab and trying to make a comeback after a failure of a last album, a bad breakup, and a slew of embarrassing situations. Indigo (Indie) has been hired as his "babysitter" making sure Alex doesn't drink or get his hands on any drugs. She's there purely for the money for a good cause but it's enough to put up with Alex's bad behavior.
Attraction and feelings get in the way, obviously. But what was surprising was near the end. I didn't see that coming. It added to the drama in a good way. There was something about this book that I can't quite put my finger on that kept me from giving it a full five stars but I still highly recommend and I'm happy the hype was well deserved. Good job. ...more

But I should have F/F isn't my thing but I was excited for another Hard Rock Harlots book featuring Jillian, Killer Buzz Float's high strung manager. But I should have realized F/F would be the tamest part of this book. LOL. I just love Letty's hijinks.
The timeline of this book parallels the entire series with most of its emphasis on Rock. I thought it was clever how Grey added in a story for Jillian. I felt bad for her for lousy introduction to the BDSM lifestyle but at the same time I admired that she knew she deserved better.
There is no HEA in the traditional sense but that doesn't mean you'll be left unsatisfied. Grey definitely leaves us with potential for more. As always we get humor, heart, and plenty of sticky situations. Pun intended. Well done. ...more

Wow. Drive is one of those books that stays with you long after you read The End. The angst was delicious. The character development was some of the best I've read.
Stella is definitely the heroine of the year. She was amazing. Stewart gave her a stellar personality with incredible dialogue. The way she unashamedly and without fear wore her emotions for everyone to see was refreshing in a heroine. I wanted to be Stella's BFF.
Reid was so complex. I hope Stewart decides in the future to give us some scenes from Reid's pov. I was dying to get inside his head. He was the opposite of Stella. He didn't let anyone see anything. I wanted to hug him.
And Nate...dayum that man was hot. He did not mince words or play games. Stella always knew what he wanted and most of the time it was her. And he's the one my heart broke for out of everyone.
Just a beautiful story of love's imperfect journey. Even if you're not a fan of angst or love triangles I'd still recommend this book for you. Do yourself a favor and read it. ...more

The way Deke and Justice (I refuse to call her Jus or Jussy. Just NO) met had me hooked. And everything is going good...until they become official.
I swear the majority of this book is Justice going out to buy sandwiches. Welcome to Yawnsville. It took me forever to finish because I couldn't gather the interest to pick it up.
I know Ashley is guilty of droning on but it's usually saved by a killer epilogue or multiple cameos from previous couples. (That's the case here). Now I'm not ready to go crazy and give less than three stars because there was plenty of good stuff in Bounty but I can't keep overlooking the boring parts. This is one KA book I won't be rereading. ...more

Kenna has always been a huge fan of NOLA's Junk, a local metal band in New Orleans. And she's had just a teensy crush on the lead singer, Phil. Her dreams come true when she and her friends meet the band after a show and she and Phil feel an instant connection. They share a kiss that's more of a promise. But NOLA's Junk just got a record deal which will have them touring and Kenna is about to attend medical school so it's not yet their time.
For years Kenna waits for Phil. Even with no contact she knows he'll be coming home to her. Phil may be waiting for Kenna in mind and heart but not in body.
When they can finally be together it made me happy but it's not an easy road. Phil is insecure and emotionally needy, he's ashamed of the things he's done. Kenna is strong and independent and nurturing and she tries hard to curb her jealousy.
I think book two is going to be about Phil forgiving himself and trying to feel worthy of Kenna's love. I'll be jumping in. Well done! ...more

One Night With Harrison: 4 stars This is the short story of how crazy Alicia Tucker got Harrison into bed and then was impregnated by him. What's funny is, she did everything right to get him to notice her and possibly even land him long term. She didn't have to do that. But she's cuckoo. It feels wrong to say I still thought it was hot. Good story.

If you've read books from Zapata before, you know she's a fan of the slow burn. This book is no different.
After getting dumped by her boyfriend, Gaby decides to take a job selling merchandise and traveling with her brother Eli's band.
Gaby has always been comfortable around the band. She's known them forever. She's one of the guys. She can dish out teasing and pranks as well as she can take it. In fact, this book had a few more TMI moments than I cared for and quite a bit of potty humor.
But it's not long before Gaby falls for the lead singer of the band touring with them, Sacha. The two become fast friends but Gaby is unsure if he wants something more. Even when Sacha starts giving obvious signs, Gaby is clueless. But she finally takes a chance.
All in all, this book was okay. It had some funny scenes and the story hooked me. I liked it well enough. ...more

He's holding auditions for backup dancers for his one year tour. Roxie is a stand out and she easily lands a lead part.
But as much as Roxie needs the money for her and her son, Leo, and as much as she loves to dance, she has reservations about working so closely with Beckham.
Beckham has been sober and clean for years but his former assholish ways are coming back to haunt him.
I have to say the best part of the book is Ian joining Beckham on tour and getting Ian's pov. It was great catching up with him and Sparrow. Squee!
I also really enjoyed the storyline. Aster did a great job weaving the mystery. She kept us guessing who the perpetrator could be. I thought Roxie held onto her grudge a little too long but overall I really liked this book. That ending though. Yikes!...more
