ThankfullyAfter watching the series finale of Angel, I was left with a lot of questions. I felt like they left me hanging, and I wanted some answers! Thankfully, Joss Whedon was kind enough to give me some of those answers by continuing the series in graphic novel form.
The artwork in this book is, I think, impressive, simply because it was a very easy transition to go from live actors on film to drawn characters on paper. The characters are drawn well enough that I knew who each was upon seeing them, just as I would if these had been episodes in the next season of the TV show. Joss manages to maintain the personality of each character through the comic book, which really does make it feel like a continuation of the show.
Personally, I think that Joss could have added more content and furthered the plot more in this first graphic novel, but I am satisfied that several of my questions were answered. There are more books in the series, so perhaps I will just have to read those to satisfy my craving for plot continuance. =D Still, this graphic novel is not as fast paced as the show, and I think I would have liked it to be.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with this book. If you watched the show and want more, I definitely recommend it. It's worth the read. Of course, you have to get used to the graphic novel format, and I know a few people who struggled with that, but I didn't find it too much of a challenge and think the format actually adds to the seamless transition between the visual show and written sequel. ...more

As a protestant, I did not know much about Jewish festivals, but they are the foundation of many of our own and so integral in understanding the Biblical times and customs, both in the Old Testament and the New. It is written by a Messianic Jew, which makes its message particularly applicable to protestants. ...more
