- Just because Riley is a songwriter doesn't mean she has to think in 24/7 metaphors and use a million adjectives in a single day.
- All the unnecessary writing fluff made the story difficult to follow. I was regularly pulled out of my reading because the words obscured the story.
- Max. Who are you? Do you have a personality? Spoiler alert: He does not. He plays the piano and runs his family's old folks home. Do you think that's boring? It's because it is. Oh, and I forgot - he wears glasses.
- Max and Riley have the emotional connection of a pair of rocks. I still do not understand how they end up together at the end. All of their obstacles to a relationship still exist. I don't understand how we, as readers, are supposed to root for this couple. Levi is very close to being the worst. (view spoiler)[While Cass is needlessly cruel to him, (hide spoiler)] he shouldn't get a free pass to be a giant asshole to everyone. I wanted to read into Levi as some Darcy-esque character who is standoffish and grumpy, but ultimately has Hannah's best interests at heart. However, that just fell apart when time after time after time he showed he was self-centered and unable or unwilling to consider what might be best for Hannah. It's great to have pansexual and demisexual representation, especially with a male character, but I physically recoiled when he told Hannah that he would never be attracted to someone else because he's demisexual. What? Being demisexual does not mean you won't be attracted to someone else in the future, or even that you'll be attracted to one person forever.
I just wanted them to each go their own ways and find ways to work on themselves because together? They're just toxic....more
