Okay.
Please, please, PLEASE... Writers, PLEASE change your descriptors once in a while.
Seriously, what was it with everyone and everything in this particular series smelling like spearmint? In an otherwise fun romp of a series, this repetition was really jarring.
It isn't that writers who have obviously swallowed a thesaurus and regurgitated it (without any digestion being involved) are any better. Of course. But please, please change/vary your descriptors once in a while!

For instance, while there was a 'fated mates' angle in the story, the author subverted it by making a clear distinction between this 'truebond' concept and actual love (which was refreshing).
The main character (particularly Vesper) was wonderful (I do love kickass women).
To be honest, while I didn't hate this sequel to 'Linesman', it definitely wasn't as fun as that first installment in this series.

...I believe the issue (for me) with this book was that this one was more focused on the politics than the last one and less on certain characters and the humorous elements associated with them. There was a lot on a new character who had been through a tragedy and in general this didn't feel as gripping for some reason, as there was no satisfying resolution by the end (i.e., in book 1 there was more accountability for those who were, by their actions, 'bad guys).

The only quibble I had, and it is unfortunately a big one, is that the story just ends without any kind of actual conclusion. I honestly tend to find it really frustrating that so many books do this (I also do feel that any short story should also have a conclusion of sorts).
I do hope there will (eventually) be more to this though, because as a longer novel which fleshes out the reasons for some of the character's choices, this would work really, really well.
Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this story in exchange for an honest review....more
This was a reread... I enjoyed this one just as much the second time around!

The characters are well done and their interactions are often hilarious (I didn't think that heart attacks could be turned into a comedic device, but apparently so!).
