oro puro. anoté los nombres de mis poemas favoritos y son una lista interminable considerando que el libro tiene menos de cien páginas (y cada poema eoro puro. anoté los nombres de mis poemas favoritos y son una lista interminable considerando que el libro tiene menos de cien páginas (y cada poema es de una página). aquí van: things my girlfriends teach me, robyn bood, the women who walk us home, things men say to me, comment section, like a wife, curveball, wedlock, what kind of man, ode to my desire, fresh lemonade, vow renewal, why you shouldn't marry me, fear of happiness, for the advice cards at baby showers, new year, motherload, social studies, fortune telling, transfiguration, childhood, back to school shopping, on the evening of her birth, what mothers say, for my daughter on a bad day y hot meals, biology.
mis fragmentos favoritos son estos: ''The best thanks is the sound of your heart beating. Your hands soaring above the waves.''
''For now just remember how you felt the day you were born: desperate for magic, ready to love.''
y mi top de poemas son moon song, my friend bethany rages at the news, female candidate, fat girl, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, when uncle brian asks if we sit around and burn bras.
este es el último que mencioné: We gather as we always have: Naomi and Ruth, Aphrodite and Helen, Eve and her lioness. We are good girls. Mothers and dancers and counselors. We are wicked too, but we won’t tell you this. Instead we arrange plates of bread and fruit, slip into the center of each other. Find our childhoods, our varied pleasures, the aged and blistered scars. We are half drunk, half destroyed. Nothing left but blood and bone. Still we surface— fold into each other like paper cranes. Her, like a long-lost lover. Her, a cool and healing balm.
