I liked this one! When I saw this title, I knew that I needed to get a closer look. I decided that it was worth a try pretty quickly. Imagine being on vacation at a tropical island resort when the sun decides to disappear from the sky. That is exactly what Dan, Mara, and the rest of the island’s visitors must contend with. I had a great time with this one and really appreciated the humor woven throughout the story.
Dan is not always a nice guy. He just wanted to enjoy his vacation but he somehow becomes one of the people others look to after the sun goes away. I thought that his flaws made him seem a lot more realistic. It doesn’t take long before the wealthiest of the island’s current residents start hoarding resources and trying to keep the lower classes down. Dan bands together with a few friends to try to find a way to survive the end of the world.
Stephen R. Thorne did a great job with the narration of this audiobook. I believe that this was the first time that I have had the opportunity to listen to this narrator’s work and I must say that I was impressed. He was able to heighten the humor of the story through his delivery and I thought that he added just the right amount of emotion to his reading. I liked the voices that he used for the various characters in the story which helped to bring the story to life. I am certain that his performance added to my overall enjoyment.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that the premise was really unique which was a big draw and I appreciated the author’s sense of humor. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future.

This was fantastic! There is something about Sarina Bowen’s writing that works for me on every level. I don’t think that I even read this book’s description before diving in because I knew that it would be a good one. And it was. Nash and Livia were wonderful characters and the chemistry between them was palpable. Once I started listening to this book, I didn’t want to stop until these characters found the happily ever after that they deserved.
Livia is trying to stay hidden. Her ex is looking for her and it won’t be good if he finds her. She has found a place that seems to be perfect for her where she can stay off her ex’s radar. She likes working at the brewery and does a great job with the books (and the cranky owner). When a stranger walks into the brewery, she is spooked and calls the police only to discover that it is one of the owner’s sons, Nash. Nash remembers the woman who walked away from him after a night of flirting at the bar and is surprised to come face to face with her after dealing with the police at the brewery. Nash stays to help out for a bit and becomes Livia’s roommate in addition to working with her.
I liked Livia and Nash together. Livia has had to deal with some horrible situations and is trying to make the best of it. I couldn’t wait to find out exactly what happened with Livia’s ex but my gut told me that it had to be bad. Nash takes everything he learns in stride and takes steps to ensure Livia’s safety. This pair was absolutely perfect together. I really appreciated the way that they communicated with one another.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Samantha Brentmoor and Tim Paige did a great job with the narration. I thought that both narrators were able to bring the characters to life through their reading. I found both voices to be quite pleasant and believe that they complimented each other quite nicely. They added just the right amount of emotion to their reading to take the story to the next level and I am certain that their performance added to my overall enjoyment.
I would recommend this book to others. This is the second book in the Giltmaker series but it reads perfectly fine as a stand alone. I fell in love with these characters and couldn’t wait to see exactly how things would work out for them. I cannot wait to read more of Sarina Bowen’s work!

I found this newest book in the UNSUB series to be incredibly exciting! I have been a fan of this series from the start and was excited to start listening to this book. This is the fourth book in the series but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. This story had all the action I hoped to find and a mystery that kept me guessing until the very end.
Caitlin is called in to talk to an inmate, Efrem Judah Goode, who has suddenly started drawing the women that he claims to have killed. As they work to identify the victims of his crimes from years ago, new bodies are being discovered in the same places Goode’s victims were found. Caitlin and the rest of the team need to find out how these serial killers are connected before more people become their prey. To complicate matters, Caitlin is also dealing with a teenager who thinks she may be connected to one of the victims.
Hillary Huber does a wonderful job with the narration of this book. I thought she added just the right amount of emotion to her reading to bring this unique cast of characters to life remarkably well. I have had a lot of luck with this narrator in the past and thought she gave a solid performance with this book. I found her voice to be very pleasant and wanted to listen to the book for hours at a time. I would say that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would recommend this book to others. I had a great time with this thriller which had enough twists and turns to keep me glued to my headphones. This book wasn’t my favorite in the series but it was a solid installment. I can’t wait to read more of this talented author’s work.
