Ray Grey is the only one of the Weatherlings who doesn't have any power to control. Her best friends can control snow and rain, but they're all very great together.
One day, she finds an old book at the library, and that book has a map with an X. It's a map from Earth and along with her cloud friend, Nim, she goes to Earth to see what the treasure is.
The discovery she makes changes her life forever.
The story was really predictable, but it was creative, and the characters were sweet. I especially loved Ray's parents. Her mum is an engineer having all sorts of tools in her hair so she can reach them faster.
The story is action-packed mostly, full of active moments, discoveries and intensity.
I felt amazing reading and listening to the book at the same time. Looking forward to the next two books in this trilogy....more
Not sure I fully understood the meaning of the story as there were a few things left unexplained (or so I think).
The story has 4 parts, 3 of them happening in the winter, and the last one being a final letter that a character wrote in March.
Baldur Skuggason is a priest who went on a blue fox hunt and in which he's very skilled.
Meanwhile, we meet Fridrik B. Fridjonsson, a botanist who recently lost a girl dear to him, who had the Down syndrom and he finally discoveres what she has been carrying her whole life.
The twist at the end wasn't very impactful, as I somehow expected something. The book started off really nice and catchy, but at the third part of it I started to slowly lose my interest.
Overall, it was an enjoyable book set in 1883 with an interesting conclusion, perfect to read in December and get closer to completing your reading goal ...more

We have a hint of mystery in this one. Saturnine wants to move in a rent and she founds an extraordinary place for a small price. However, she will live with the mysterious Elemirio. And is said that 8 girls lived there before Saturnine and they just vanished.
I loved the story, the dialogue and that ending and I crave for even more books from this amazing author!

Unfortunately, this is the year I decided to stop pushing myself towards a reading slump. If I find it really hard to continue with a book, I want to dnf it. I started this one last year and got to 20%, then stopped and read other books.
Now going through my Currently Reading shelf I found this one and made a tough decision: I'm dnf'ing it.
This nonfiction is a gem, it talks about Black Women and how some of their decisions changed the world, which is a great topic.
I just simply didn't resonate with it, it didn't touched my soul as I would've liked. I'm not going to rate this one as the story is great and I'm sure others will love this one....more

Weeeeeell, yeahhhh. Same sh*t here, but way more immature. Plus, the first line in the book has a swearing, as the whole book, which is full of them.

The Moon Stealers and the Quest for the Silver Bough is the first novel in a 4-book series inspired by Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.
A young boy, Peter Crips has disappeared after he spent a night in the cemetery, due to a challenge given to him by his mean colleagues. Then we have a dual POV throughout the book. Firstly, we get to see Joe, Scarlet and Max meeting an old man named Edgar, who is actually a descendent of Arthur himself. He tells the kids that he knows where the boy has gone to and in order to get to him, they need a so-called Silver Bough.
Secondly, we follow Steven, an adult working for MI6 in London. He is sent to Parsley Bottom where Peter Crisp has disappeared (whom the police is looking for) and check out this alien bacteria who fell from a meteorite shower.
The doom and despair follow. The story is fast-paced and you don't have any chance to get bored. It's like watching an old-ish sci-fi horror movie while eating popcorn, but at some point you forget eating, because the story gets so intense!
Maybe it is a bit problematic, especially that the parents seem to disappear. To give a clear example I could not not notice, Joe and his friends told their parents they will be sleeping to some of their friends during one night, but the action continues in the span of another night or two, and we don't get to see anything else from their parents nor the kids say anything about it. And this was a bit unrealistic.
But other than that, I really liked this story, the Edinburgh castle ruins, the creepy scenes, the adventure and discoveries and everything in between.
The book ends on a cliffhanger for both perspectives, which set the tone and plot for the next book (which I just bought from Amazon as a kindle edition - mwhahah) :D.
Looking forward to continue with this series. :) P.S. I repeat, this one is free and you can take it right now (which I recommend you do if you like reimagined stories of medieval times, fantasy, aliens or creepy scenes).

Now listening to this one, I really loved the narration and the vibe of the story. I still want to buy the original book and read it again, then continue with the series.
Two siblings, Marilla and Matthew requested for a boy for them to take care of, give an education and so on. But they are shocked to see a girl, Anne with an E has been sent out to them.
From there, they start fancying her and they decide to keep her here in Green Gables. So her story and adventure starts.
The book is emotional and powerful. It soothes your soul and make you cry. You should definitely try it out. ❤️

I've been meaning to read this book for a few years now (about 4 approximately) and I started it about 3 times, but I always f4.5 ✨ rounded down to 4.
I've been meaning to read this book for a few years now (about 4 approximately) and I started it about 3 times, but I always felt like it's such an important story and I wanted to make proper time for it, so I put it down each time.
But on the 26th of December I simply got into it and haven't left until I finished it, and I regret nothing!
First of all, I'd like to mention that this book has a few scenes of torture, so if this triggers you, please proceed with caution. I know I felt horrible going through those moments in the book.
Now, the book has one of the best premises I have ever read about: There are 4 Londons in parallel worlds - Grey London (the most usual and non-magic one), Red London (the most frutiful and full of healthy and beautiful magic), White London (the one where everyone is thirsty for power and they use magic to do mischief) and Black London (the one that fell a long time ago because the magic consumed everyone).
We have 2 protagonists: Kell, who is an Antari and can travel between Londons, and Delilah Bard, a human thief from Grey London who wishes to steal a boat and travel far away.
The book is mostly alert and happens in the span of about 2 days, but somehow I felt like Schwab wanted to extend each moment when Kell travelled from a London to another and the action that goes on, and at the end I felt like everything ended too quickly, like the author just got tired and put the action on fast forward. I don't know, it's just what I felt, and the main reason for taking 0,5 points down from the rating.
I adored the fact that there was no romance the book focused on; only action, world-building more or less and character development. I have a few assumptions of what is going to happen in the next 2 books but I may be wrong.
All in all, this is a story worth reading, especially if you are a Fantasy fan. It's a must-read! Looking forward to the next book in the trilogy!
